I don't play Pryd but same here, on my minstrel if I come across a 1 vs 1, I keep an eye on both's health, if it looks like a realm mates going to lose I might chuck a stun in to give them a hand or if they're really struggling I'll just outright help out ;) I guess it devalues the win if you got help like a stun anyway but I think it's less lame than just jumping straight in to leech all the RPs you can.

I disagree, it would seem that after a PVE addon that the DEV's dont agree either either, PVP is not an end game for me, nor is a PVE addon a means to an end. For me they compliment each other.

I enjoy some aspects of PVE a lot, I dont like the out and out "level to 50 then do it all again scenario". But I would say my in game life is split 50/50 ish PVP vs PVE.

I've been playing for 3 years and only have around 4-5 million RP's, if PVP was the end game I would not have rolled a necromancer or a Cabalist or <insert crap at PVP class here> character.

From what I have seen of the new expansion currently being developed there appears to be high level PVE mostly. So for some, they agree PVP is the end game, I do not agree with that sentiment myself.

when the game was released.... there were no Realm ranks... so the arguement of taking a keep or going out with a load of RR1 people holds no water... .
fair enough if the enemies were all RR1 as well, as i was pointing out.

I think people are taking what i say to seriously.
Basically these are my main views at the moment :

1) Leeching on a player from you own realm when they are easily winning is bad form.

2) PvP is the endgame for the majority of players, the ultimate aim of ML's and ToA is to get better abilites or equip for RvR, even other PvE activites like farming. What do you need the money for if your not gonna spend it on items? Why would you buy items if you dont need them in RvR?

Oh and Bidi, if they are implementing a PvE addon, it would imply that they think the PvE side of the game is lacking something at the moment (ToA lol), and that they are trying to widen the horizons of things to do when your 50. what are the champion level's for exactly? new abilities that you will use in rvr. Ok, so maybe the means of getting these champion levels is fun (you know, i like having fun as well, serious!) and you can have a good time with friends, but the ultimate Corporate aim for the Expansion Packs is RvR, quests, nice items etc.

:cow:

(what ive been saying about the endgame IS NOT from a personal opinion, so can people stop trying to make me sound like some scrooge who frowns upon fun. )

Wanting to RvR doesn't equate to caring about RPs.

The vast majority fof RPs are scored where adding is not an issue, and even when there is someone adding it does not always reduce the amount you'd score (if you were easily winning for example, you must have already done significant damage). This means that adding, in all likelihood, does not significantly affect the rate at which you gain realm ranks.

Also, there needs to be a fair gap in realm ranks for them to have a major impact on a fight. It has to be enough of a spread to allow the purchase of a decent RA, which means at RR6 for adding to have impared your viability in any real sense, you'd have had to lose several hundred thousand RPs at least to it.

What all this means is that someone adding on your fight doesn't really have a major impact on your viability in the frontier. For it to be annoying, you'd have to be watching your RPs like a hawk, and be pretty much playing just to advance your total. In that situation, your frustration cannot be laid at the feet of other players. If you're at the point where enjoyment of the gameplay itself is no longer motivating you to play, either the game is letting you down or you've just outlasted the gameplay longevity.

It's pretty natural to latch onto issues like adding, etc and feel that they are spoiling the game for you when the game's not doing it for you any more, but it might be worth considering whether the real problem is between you and the game rather than between you and other players.

what part of my quote did i say that RvR meant RP's? If you have read all of my responses on this subject you would know my personal views.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was the quote I gave not a response from you to Taki on the need to gain realm ranks higher than RR1?

Also, in a previous post you stated that RPs are the endgame and in another post you mentioned that you dislike adding because it slows down your progress towards a higher realm rank.

In addition, the entire thrust of your discussion has been about leeching and people taking RPs from you.

Are you now saying that the RPs side of thing does not bother you and that it's more the impact on the fun of the fight itself that does? I can see how someone would take feel that way, but it would seem at odds with what you've said so far.

I did see where you asked people to stop making you sound like a scrooge who frowns upon fun but all I am doing is giving an honest response to the actual comments you make. I've never said, or tried to imply, that you don't like fun, but since the focus of your posts has been about RPs and realm ranks - rather than being about fun - it's a bit hard for me to respond in any other way.
