Actually, the other end of the scale is much further than Mormons and Scientologists. One argument for giving people basic information on the main respected religions is the hope that if they feel a need for religion and spirituality they are less likely to get caught up in some of the really strange stuff.

I know someone who got involved in a cult, had a child there, had to leave without him. It got umm... interesting... when she tried to get her son back. As someone else (male) said about the cult. They were really caring, loving people, I was really impressed, it was just the way the leader had sole sexual rights to all the women, and I was supposed to give them all my money and possessions, and I had this moment of clarity and said no.

And someone else I know got deep into alternative medicine, turned left into witchcraft, and exited rapidly after running into some seriously strange people.

The world of wicca isnt something you should take lightly. there are some seriously disturbed ppl practicing it ... trust me I know. But it is a nice religion and intresting religion.

I am well aware it's a very weak argument, which is why I don't Believe. It is strong enough though to leave a little doubt though, since it is techinically impossible to disprove them.

Sometimes their religion lets them act abit more normal
sometimes they pretend their religion lets them act nuts

I think it's atheism.

However Agnosticism is safer, just in case....
