Foie Gras
No more wrong than eating any other animal (slaughter methods are generally inhumane). Battery farmed hens, stories of pigs surviving a couple of attempts at being shot through the head with a bolt gun when being slaughtered, fish kept in capitivity on fish 'farms', cows kept penned up for milking.
Now I'm not saying that any of it is right, but if you think that is bad then you should see the other stuff that goes on. If it bothers you that much give up meat as you'll have to travel a long way to find an animal that was bred & killed to feed you that was treated with any sort of dignity.
I'm glad to see the Foie Gras has made the list of wrongs to stop in this world. Surely that means that everything else is just hunky dory.

Those that can't lead follow.
Those that can lead should admit when they're lost.

im pretty sure this is prolly one of the extreme ways of making it..
highly doubtful EVERY maker of the liver would do this.
Similar to battery and free range hens yknow.
It is sad to know that you could prolly put that video on prime time TV and people would still order the stuff when they went to the restaurant the same evening..

You know Banana, no matter what way you do it - you still need to make their liver grow 2-3 times bigger than normal. The way to do it is the way they show it in the movie, perhaps they don't have to have as dirty cages as you can see in the movie all the time - but you still need to forcefeed them to get their liver to grow. With a 2-3 times too big liver they will suffer extreme pain.
And all this just cos people want to eat their Foie Gras - It's not like if they shouldnt be able to live without their Foie Gras either..
Edit: Btw I find it quite amusing how you can belive in god and life on other planets - but still you find it highly doubtful every maker of the liver would do this
I guess it would have sounded more resonable if it had included angels fighting on a battlefield?
(no offence Banana..just having some fun
)

I think anyone with a heart couldnt make the animals be in such pain like that. I would hope that most people wouldnt do that and the animals wouldnt be in pain.
As for the liver..well youve posted stuff on the forum yourself about organs that have swollen up to incredible sizes and the fact the humans who had them were actually in no pain.
Force feeding the ducks to that size would be painful as the growth would be achieved quickly however i sincerly hope that the people who make it nicely would take longer and therefore the animals wouldnt be in such pain.
I have no idea if they do or not - i just dont want to imagine the majority of people doing such a thing...

Because you highly doubt things that are quite well known - but still you belive in something that people can't prove. This thread is not about religion, but you just keep on suprising me. You claim there is an ongoing battle between god and satan on our planet..well, this is as close as you can get. Imo if you treat a living being the way they do with these birds (and not only these birds - there are lots of other similar situations with animal cruelty) you are either evil or just can't feel compassion for a living being.Banana wrote:why even bring that into the conv??

The only real way to get their liver big as you need for the Foie Gras is by doing it pretty much as these fuckheads do it.
Edit: lol lets not turn this thread into another religion one! hehe I just used it as an example ofc. Heta will take his own life if he finds another religious discuss (then again, that kind of gave me an idea)

I think you're misunderstanding what Foie Gras actually is Banana, it's swollen liver, there is no nice way to make it.Banana wrote:well im not sure how the non-evil people do it.

If you had a pipe shoved down your throat each day making you gag and almost drown on it, leaving you feeling permanently uncomfortable and in severe pain as your liver swells such that you can't even walk would living in a tight cage or a luxury mansion really leave you enjoying what little life you had?
