Like I said WoW was no better to be honest when I played it. Maybe its better now? I don't know I still cannot be bothered to log in an play something I have payed for.

So please do not tell me that I did not see what I saw I do not run around all you a giver of misinformation.

I heard some people did have trouble on the masssively overpopulated servers. But there's a big difference between problems caused by overpopulation and technical faults.

Also, look at the response. There's new WoW servers being commissioned all the time and Blizzard do free character transfers to the new servers. They looked at their problem and invested money in a solution that works and will work over the long term.

Not only that but they must have capped the server pops lower, because I play on a server that is frequently "full" (people can't logon without queuing at that point) and have no lag issues.

You can still sit back and say "well I had lag, which conclusively proves WoW is no better run than any other game" but I think an honest comparison of service levels as whole between WoW, DAoC, SWG, etc would show WoW being one of the best. DAoC probably would be too, I would think, or certainly wouldn't be the worst (SWG and Lineage services are completely awful).

I am not massively experienced on the different on line rpg's but would imagine as the game gets older the service levels drop off a little. Simple econmics to me suggests as less people play, then less income is generated and so less money is spent on upgrades, servers, personel etc.

Ofc I could be speaking out of my backside and that would not be the first time (or last).

I would agree with this statement. It seems very fair. You have to agree that if even on the best game (for me at the moment it is definitely Eve) you get lag spikes and occassional problems that well it should be expected to some extent?

That of course was my point, I am not sure why you thought I felt it conclusively proved anything other than that.

I definitely agree that whenever in an online game you'll suffer the occasional spike. It's normal on the internet, but I was really talking about abnormal conditions, like the router situation on pryd cluster.

We had to give up on Co5 tonight after having to stop at the entrance to every room on the way to the first mob to wait for LDs & then wiping twice on 1st mob due mainly to the lag.

Game is unplayable like this.

[Edit]
Since DR I've been on 5 Co5 raids
2x successful
3x failed due to lag/LDs

Ive also been on 5 Crom attempts
2x wiped OTW there - probably due to lag-pulls of Pale Guardians
2x failed in the instance itself due to lag/LDs
1x failed probably due to general tiredness.

Can anyone really say that's acceptable?

A lot of issues with lag are troublesome for GOA to resolve. After all if your mother company gives sh** about service (having to lay off staff to keep dividend up for share holders which works for this year at least) then there is not much to do but to wait and pray it gets better.

My prediction is that if the situation continues with the lag issues GOA can close the English TOA cluster by the end of the year. My guess is that if the numbers continue to decline as they do now then without interest by France Telekom to prove that they can provide special services to customers in the gaming industry GOA has a lifeline of about 2 years.
