it's the inet, it's a game... grow up?
growing up has nothing to do with this. You might read up on kallima's thread she made.

hehe the amount of times ive done that :)

its hard with some posts. Sometimes a person can make a post which is littered with internal stuff that only a few people will pick up on but seems harmless to everyone else.
Obviously it will infuriate those people but the rest of everyone else will view the replys as flaming.
But if they never replied to 'defend' then the person who posted kinda wins.
either way its a loose loose situation.

Not sure how to handle it. Maybe reply once to that person and then not reply again in the thread if emotions running too high? Or try to word it in such a way that you have done the same as the person who youre replying too (although technically dropping to their level) so it looks like no one is flaming.
All else fails do

:aran1: i hit you with a trout for your comment.

Not flamy and you get to slap the person whos annoyed ya :)

it is a game but real peeps with real emotions.
and tbh the 'adult' responce all too often is to stick our head in the sand til it goes away. Might make for peace but not sure if its good.

tbh I have to agree to this somewhat, if what someone says in a post aimed for you, I myself would answer until I see that the post has no point, truth or whatever.

I have never been offended by anything in a thread so far, and I doubt I will because if someone says something about me that aint so, maby Il just make a post saying it aint so and after that the one posting can keep doing so by himself.

Still I guess different people take things differently and might get offended, is why I never try to do that to anyone ;D

So even if you knew that that person was talking bullshit, you would 'defend' yourself once, but if it goes further just shut up?
Thing is, I start off with that idea, but sometimes it adds up to more and more questions, accusations and it doesnt seem to stop then ... where to draw the line and say stop? And if you say stop after 1 reply do ppl think then that the person that is making all the accusations is right cos you have stopped replying?

In the case where the post is set up to annoy you, but is devious enough to look harmless to other people then it is best to disappoint the poster's efforts and not reply.

If someone posts something obvious like 'Fred is a cheating thief who stole Guard of Valor' then its different. Assuming this statement is a lie, then Fred or Fred's friends, or anyone who happens to know the truth, probably have to reply. If nobody challenges it, people who do not know Fred well are probably going to assume its true. Even if the all excusing smilie is added to the end, a lot of people won't notice it or will assume there is no smoke without fire.

Fortunately, I've rarely had to do this. Other people usually get in first with a much more withering and effective post than I could ever manage. There was something I could have posted a response to today on FH, but several other people had already dealt with the idiot so there was really no need.

Yes, thats my way, I won't keep arguing about something i know aint so, those who know me and play together with me ingame, will know it aint so and that + me knowing it aint so is enough for me.

to keep arguing about something that wasent so in the first place is pointless imo.

this more or less as nana said in a earlier post tbh.

"Still I guess the posts would get rather boring if everyone was like me, but I belive this is the way to stop endless loops of meningless Flames".
