In earnest, I started this thread as more of a means of humoring people with some comedy whilst trying to find the correct information on FH as I had heard about it on my /as on mid excalibur at the time. I was xping artifacts on one of my mid chars and it was pretty much unplayable (ie I lost around 60g due to lag and ld's) (Big Deal:xest: ).
The subsequent threads on FH I saw were yes OTT and a rather kneejerk reaction from those that posted there and I saw much of it as humour albeit some had their issues to vent. I would really like this thread closed now as basically the temperature in it has degenerated from its original intent. Perhaps other threads should have been started around the time this was originally posted.
Yes I am annoyed at the service we are getting, but there are many other factors that are in play and are deserving of their individual merit. Perhaps it is wiser for people to see such merit in its own case and not to amalgamate them all together for the purpose of a witch hunt against a company that can do little about its lag issues and much of the software issues that cause the game we play.
Such threads are productive in that they do get read and digested if there is sufficient cause and frustration vented. Flimgoblin (FH) is at least trying to listen to current customer frustration with his own threads on that forum. It does show that they are listening and will take individual views into account. I am aware from the posts I have read that most of you would like to burn someone at the stake right now. But please, keep it out this thread and put it into the right forum where it will get the merit it deserves.
Thanks.

Arc, your thread was modded & amalgamated with 2 roughly similar threads started by different people, which is probably partly why it no longer bears any resemblance to the thread you started.
If a mod closed it at this point it would effectively mean he/she was closing 3 peoples threads which would be a little unfair on the other 2 people involved, who might then feel obliged to open new similar threads, thus effectively making the original modding pointless. We really don't want to get into a repeating cycle of thread-opening-modding-amalgamating-closing-reopening........
Maybe Quinlan can take your name off it or something. I don't know exactly what modding possibilities exist.

I can see what you're saying. There are often compelling reasons to use a sister company as a service provider, but it's not actually required. What we are seeing with the endemic lag problems in DAoC though is that there may be compelling reasons not to.Cromcruaich wrote:GOA is owned by the company that owns the opentransit.
Oohhoo almost certainly had it spot on.
It would be crazy to stick with a provider - sister company or not - if it ends up costing you money.

Aye, dont think the relationship is a sister company, more like big brother. Agree in principle with you, but it's possible as oohoo said that it might not be an option they could even consider.Cryn wrote:I can see what you're saying. And Asc, think this is now a reasonable unheated knock around of ideas and conjecture about GOA, Wanadoo and FT and opentransit as a backbone. Wonder if anyone from France has a bit more concrete info?

Given Req is abstaining from at least replying on this forum I sent a pretty blunt note to RN last night about the ongoing lag, the lack of commentary on their official pages and the fact that the game was dying.
I got a terse response back - but at least an honest one and what do I see today but a comment on their main webby.
They claim they are taking it seriously, they claim they are aware of the general feelings of the population and claim to be doing what they can to resolve it.
Let's hope we see their claims are backed up by improvements - for all our sakes.

After that response I basicly told them to sod off and that I won´t be bothered using RN again cause its waste of my time.GOA wrote:Subject

Hello,
First of all, we invite you to go on the following website in order to download the update files for your video card drivers:
http://www.ati.com/support/fr/driver.html
Once you have saved the file on your desktop, right-click on your desktop, select “]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en[/url]
If you have a VIA chipset, go on the following website for your mother board in order to download and install the Hyperion4in1 drivers:
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300
Also try to settle the Windows display mode on 16 bits mode if you are on a 32 bits mode.
If you have a device for it, check that the temperature of your video card doesn’t exceed the functioning “normal” temperature (refer to your card manual).
If none of that has resolved your problem, try the following modifications:
1) On your video card:
- Deactivate the antialiasing or anisotropic options
- Lower the frequency of the refreshes for the display
- If your video card is on the AGP port, change its speed in the BIOS (change it in x4, x2 or x1)
2) On the game:
- Try different resolutions
- Lower the settings in the graphics options menu (water options, Clip Plane Distance, shadows, ...)
If one of these settings solve your problem, thanks to inform us. Thus, we could avail the community of this solution.
Regards,
