Now I find myself caught between Mythics servers, where the community doesn't suit me but in my opinion the service is OK, & GOAs servers, where in my opinion the community is superb but the service sucks in comparison.
Personally I am not being dramatic - in all earnestness if a some of these very decent people were going to move I would be there. No whine, simply searching for somewhere to play along with the people I like playing with.
I agree with Quin if it is that bad stop - in this case however there are alternatives. Whatever best to trundle along and wait for the next screw up by GOA. Maybe that will be the end who knows, I have not spent three months thinking very hard about it for nothing.

Know the feeling on the no alternatives shark
Moving to US server doesnt help. Just freaks you out seeing emblems you recognise on strange guilds. When i went to US servers worst thing was seeing an HDS emblem but with strange names with it. And seeing familiar names as theyre generated by the same programme..

I think discussions of GOA go a bit beyond just leaving a game to get away from them. One line of potential discussion for people like me who did leave the game (I don't play DAoC now) is whether a different provider, or GOA improving their offering, would make enough difference to bring players back to the game.
I didn't leave over something GOA did, but they certainly contributed. The havoc wreaked by the prydwen db issue and their handling of it left the game with fewer people for me to group with. The XML being down has been a source of irritation to me ever since it went beyond a reasonable outage time (a couple of months) to a silly length of time. Maybe some people who view GOA more positively won't understand what I am about to say, but I actually began to resent paying money to them.
Whoever is running DAoC-related things at GOA needs to have a serious rethink about some fundamental issues. Keeping players happy is not a hands-off endeavour, and the simple truth is that noone likes to be kept in the dark. Poor commincation will annoy people even if you were doing a perfect job in other areas.
yeah I would think it would be tough intiially Banana but when a company is being unethical it is important to draw a line somewhere. As far as I am concerned I can see that line now.
I won't be hanging around after the next inevitable c_o_c_k-up. It might be the end of DaoC for me altogether - that will all depend on how groups of people feel here. Ok enuff said I ain't posting to this thread anymore - its time this was closed.

However that said a personal opinion is that yes his reaction in this thread was OTT and it caused a lot of this flaming. The question that still remains in my mind is how many would go if it came to it and if so what deadline or incident would that groups set.
I have had a few words around the game and there are those that will leave - not many people give two damns right now for GOA. Like Ambera I will not walk out of my firends, the fixed group or my guild - if enough go I am going to be first in line. We could go to Merlin form an Prydwen in Exile guild and then WTF pwn Xest. :devlin:
Yeah, don't get me wrong certainly it's a hard job, you have to be a certain sort of person to be doing the job Requiel's doing, but as I say someone from GOA should say "hold on a second, he's not doing too good he's getting a load of crap, it's upsetting him let's move him off to a different job that he'll be happier in". If you look at Sanya and Missy's example, if there's a really controversal thread she'll just keep out but she (appears) to report back on it in most cases, if it's something she can help with she will. She certainly wouldn't however get upset and refuse to post on VN boards ever again. On the same note Sanya comes across as rather hardy and that's the kind of personality that you really need there.
