Well i know Kemor did it once in the past, was after a guy had a made a char named Trandhuil. I got very annoyed by it, and after he a while he did as well since people thought he was me. So we told this to Kemor, who then came in game and changed to whatever new name the person wanted.
It's worth a try.

GoA will probably only change names if
a: it's offensive, not in spirit of the game etc.
or
b: if you have a character with the same name on the clustered server.

The easiest way in that case, is to contact the customer support asking (exceptionally) to rename one of the two characters. Give a list of 5 names you would like to give to your characters.
