I think a rough date is at the base of Erce's question, it just got a bit screwed over with clever ppl talking about cars poke: hehehe

Anyway, the last reported RN number done was Banana's [Incident: 050906-000300] on the 6th October. Based on GoAs statement of them doing 50-60 a day should have placed my accounts [Incident: 050906-000437] and [Incident: 050906-000490] to be done roughly 3 to 4 days later (around the 9th to 10th of October). Now that estimate may be a little off given the way the process is handled but even giving them and additional couple of days, u'd have thought it would be done by now, some 10 days after my projected date based on information at hand at the time. Still, however, neither of these accounts have been done. I know what ur about to say - ah but they had to pull some people off restoring items to go to that games fair. Ok fair enough, but when u consider that Zupernova reported on the 14th Oct that his RN number 06-338 still hadn't been done, a mere 38 from the last reported RN number that was done, it doesn't feel like they've pulled some people from restoring players items it feels like they've pulled the MAJORITY of people off restoring players items.

The biggest thing thats got my goat personally is, if u read their latest FH statement, it gives the impression that they are still meeting their target of approximately 50-60 accounts restored per day, when the 500 of us still waiting know this is totally untrue. Tbh the scant regard they are now giving the people still waiting to have their accounts restored is disgraceful. If they've got a problem, say so, the majority of the people waiting will understand, and carry on waiting patiently, but to ignore us and act like everything is roses is just a big slap in the face imo.

bottom line is, givf back erce's snakecharmers so she can pwn again :<

short, simple, easily done by a horny spider monkey in a much shorter time frame than its been done so far.

people that are moaning in this thread are people that either all their friends are sorted already or just didnt get affected. so make another thread about how crap your life is rather than having 'an opinion' here.

people are using the monde de blegh as an issue because its for the french, you'd get the same whine if a random french server went tits up and they had an english show. although if it was an english show instead i'm sure threads about that would be flooding out ML threads and ones like this.

if you disagree dont post, or at least think through the examples you are using so people wont spam the flaws going off topic.

pweeze monsiuer GoA. pull your finger out for the last couple of people.
So open your mouth and stick to your guns. You've gotta realise that she's indifferent. Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh what your name? just wont learn, here we go again.

Given i got off lightly (lost inv one one character and equipment on another) but was able to continue playing with my main characters i decided not to do my report immediately so that others that needed it would get sorted first.
But given i sent it in on 050910-250 and havent seen any movement lately does that mean im looking at another month before it gets sorted.
Im lucky, i can still play, but what about thoose that have lost thier main and cant, the 12 days compansation seemed good at the time but they havent been able to play properly for well over a month now.
i dont want to know how much damage this has done morale-wise to this server, but since it happened ive noticed a definate change in attitude.
Its hard but we have to try to keep calm and united without throwing stones or upsetting people.
The worrying thing is they said that mythic wanted to wipe the server.
If this had happened what kind of compansation could they offer, could they offer anything or would it just be a case of opps sorry prydwen died.

I don't really buy the "wipe the server" comment from Requiel. I find it very hard to believe that that the worst case scenario - even if they rebuilt the server from the ground up - is anything other than a restore from an old back up.

I'm sure it is handy for GOA's image to make us feel they were the only thing preventing Mythic from destroying our characters forever, but I'd be very surprised if that was ever a possibility.

I've noticed a distinct change since the server outage on prydwen too. Much less activity from players, less life in general in the server, and a strong feeling of being in limbo. We don't know when things will get back to normal, we don't know when we'll get cluster, and those 2 things combined are keeping people in a perpetual state of "It's not worth doing anything meaningful until things are sorted"

Not sure what we're supposed to do about it though - we get bitched at about stifling discussions if we do mod and bitched at about letting the forum descend to be like FH if we don't.

Personally I'm not a fan of heavy moderation, I've been using the internet for more than 10 years now, call me elitist but I feel if someone gets offended by something on the internet then they just shouldn't be using it, it's one of the last bastions of free speech where anything goes (although even that freedom seems to be slowly waning due to goverments and corporates making their own rules). Despite my personal opinion on moderation however, the general consensus from people here seemed to be for fairly active and heavy moderation and rules - perhaps we got the wrong idea about that.

I'll make a poll in Off-topic and make a post linking it to here if only purely for research purposes so we can get a better idea about what kind of moderation everyone is actually after.

I was fortunate. My main rvr character was untouched. The six characters who lost everything have been compensated and only two of them really mattered. After redressing the others, I couldn't face the headache of making a new template for my ranger, but since it was a ranger Aran could help me out with that.

So I was lucky and I was sorted out after a few weeks.

I think Erce is quite justified in expressing frustration at this point. I couldn't see any point in screaming at GOA when they were obviously working their way through the right now reports at a steady rate. There seems to have been little progress over the last two weeks, so it is fair enough for people still waiting for main characters to be restored to say they are frustrated and ask for a little reassurance. They may be a minority, but they still matter. It could be any one of us stuck waiting with an unplayable main character. By this time, however calm and reasonable they are most people would be getting frustrated.

It's possible that only me and one or two others dislike the heavy moderation. If the forum in general has been asked and came out in favour of it, then go with the majority, I guess.

My preference is fairly simple - I'm in favour of debate but not in favour of name calling. If someone posts merely to say something offensive and is obviously not interested in moving the debate forwards, delete their post or do whatever you wanna do moderation wise. Locking the thread at that point (as happened recently) would be a bit silly, because it means the last word on the subject is one person calling another person names.

However, if two people are having a debate and strongly disagree, why should everyone start panicking and locking things down? If we say noone is allowed to be passionate or excited in their posts, it'll be the forum equivalent of valium - sure it'll keep things from getting out of hand but it will also ensure noone ever gets and opportunity to thrash out a subject together.

Clearly, in any moderation strategy, light or heavy, it's a bad thing if one or more of your moderators engage in name-calling or inflammatory posting. Those people should not be mods.

Peat gona read between your lines now. The reason why I locked the thread was because i was personally sick of seeing two grown men bitching at each other.
Firts it was with Xest (no i'm not saying you did) now its on Quin.
If you want me to re-open the thread I will but like things were going last night I had to do something to stop you two. I did it on my own personal opinion. I did get pm's of ppl they were happy to see the thread locked.

I would like to appologise to who-ever i may have offended by posting my personal views on things. Erce I have nothing against, you far from it, i have a lot of respect for you.
SeanPaul, its not cos I didnt get affected by char wipe that I stick up for Goa. I just feel that aslong as either of us has been to their headquarters we cant say what they do. Do they work non stop on the problem? We simply dont know. Al we can do is wait till everyone gets their stuff back.
Do you think cos i didnt get affected that I dont care about other ppl that still didnt get their stuff back? If you think that then you are very wrong.
I was the only one in FS who didnt get affected. I felt guilty and wanted to do anything I could to help ppl out. To bad my finances didnt go high enough to help them all out.

All i'm saying is guys that getting at each others throagts wont get us anywhere. Start a petition or whatever but like Aran says, we have to unite here.
