My opinion of IRC is based upon the times I've used IRC. There's nothing intrinsically bad about the technology, I suppose, although something about it brings out the worst in people. Like FH in realtime.

Yes my description is a generalisation, but then it would be unreasonable to expect me to specifically discuss the merits of every user on there. No doubt there are some very nice people using it in a mature way, but when you meet them you'll also me the kiddies whose main passtime is spouting inanities and repeating the most recent web/daoc buzzwords every few seconds.

Apologies to any mature users of the DAoC IRC channels. My comments are not directed at you.
fair post IMO

Hi,

I used the post by Ethild and went onto IRC last night and it was pretty much as described. Mind you some of them were talking in morse code which I think was tactics. So take note of that post you might find it useful should you want to pop along to IRC.

Dunno if its just me or my play style but I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to talk to any member of another Realm. I suppose this adds to me, the excitement, mystery and roleplay aspects - the game is designed this way and already provides a more than suitable 'Realm-only' chat interface.

Admittedly, if you want to keep in touch with non-players or players on other servers IRC serves its purpose.

#prydwen.rvr and #prydwen.stealthers is getting better and better each day.

Less tards on those channels then on FH atleast.

Remember that every whine on IRC is a whine less on FH :)

And as posted before prydwen.rvr was created for the fg´s to talk/discuss/whine about fights they have had, roaming areas, checking what groups will run etc. Very nice when u want to see if there will be any action out or if you might just aswell do other things.

prydwen.stealthers are made for the stealthers(ofc) but plenty of others have found their way in there. If you are a constant zerger/adder you have nothing to gain from being in this channel and you will most probably be banned anyways because simply we don´t want you there.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistance. Talent will not: nothing more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistance and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.......

I'll try prydwen.rvr, always willing to give things another chance.
