Hiya,
My g/f's PC doesn't wanna boot up this morning. (Monday morning :kesxex: )
First message we get is that BIOS is not installed.
On next screen we get there are a few options:
DEL: Setup F11: Boot Menu F12: Network boot F10: Flash Recovery
(We can't use 1 of the options above)
Under it is:
CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad
If you have built SATA Raid array previously,
go to "P20378 SATA Controller" set as Raid.
(We didn't install or change anything)
Press F1 to Run Setup
Press f2 to load default values and continue
(also here we can't use any of the options)
Some-one any idea what did go wrong?
Any help would be great :-D
Thank you.

If you know the name of the motherboard try downloading the latest bios and put em on a disk. It sounds weird that you should need to reinstall the bios but then again its not a common problem your talking about so it might be worth a shot.
But after reading through your post a couple of time I still havent understod if you can access the diskdrive/cd at all or if its just totally stuck in that menu. Does the options come instantly or does it check your computer hardware first? (menory/disk/cd etc etc)

Double check if all the cables are connected, open the pc and check so all the cables inside are fully connected too and restart the pc. If that doesnt work Im afraid that its broken (or atleast imo beyond what most normal users can fix themself). Actually, if the cables werent connected inside fully it would either not start or usually beep or something to warn you that something is wrong.

well ther eis more than a fair chance that anything on the HDD is buggered now.
if you have backups have them handy.
If you have look at the motherboard of the system, try and find teh Cmos battery .
make sure the system is off and unpluged, remove the cmos battery, and leave the system for about 6 hours. then pop it back in and try and boot up.
If it still won't boot, it's either the bios has become corrupeted, or the m/board is knackered.

can always try booting without the cmos batterey... screws with the system a little bit but at this stage I would say you have little to loose.

CMOS bat or fuxxed mobo imo tbh! :/
Not ya HDD as someone said as this would still let you pass the BIOS/POST
Also try clearing the CMOS, dunno what mobo u got so cant tell ya where the jumper is, but all it requires is for you to remove/replace jumper to "Clear CMOS" setting, turn pc on for a few sec (seems like nowt happens btw but it actually resets ya BIOS) then unplug PC (make sure u remove pow cable from AC/DC socket) then place CMOS jumper back to "Normal"...this will re-set ya BIOS.

hmm.. Why would his HDD be knackered ? ...dont worry the poor bloke!Gamblor wrote:well ther eis more than a fair chance that anything on the HDD is buggered now.

Chances of his HDD being knackered are slim, He cant get past the POST, which indicates its a mobo/cmos prob. You can boot a PC up without a HDD to check the BIOS.
POST checks everything is sweet wit the BIOS, if it is then it hands over to ya OS which is now when ya HDD kicks in, if it aint then ya have probs such as hes having id say 99% mobo/bios or cmos batt is gimped.

You can go into your bios and use the "restore bios defaults" option to get rid of any checksum errors, you will have to set your bios upagain tho. saw some mention of hdd error too, use your bios auto detect hard drive option, if you have a faulty hdd or hdd cable error it wont find it
look, no hands!
