one thing i would like to ask

why were we told a small number of us would suffer

almost 2/3 of freddys house have suffored with this and i know 2 of my personal chars have lost items (minor - arurualite stuff not gonna bother reporting)

is the problem worse than was expected or just we all been very unlucky and the majority of active accounts rather than expired ones were corrupted?
It isn't 2/3rds of Freddyshouse, it's 2/3rds of the people who felt like answering the poll. Naturally people who have lost items will be more likely to read the poll let alone vote in it. The number of affected characters that Mythic gave us after they'd finished cleaning up the db was 3,500 which is a small percentage of the million or so characters in the complete database. As some of those 3,500 are long term-inactive or even deleted we felt we would be dealing with significantly less than 3,500 actual claims. Even if every single one of those 3,500 was an active character it's still less than 1% of the total character base. I guess we won't know until it's over exactly how big the actual problem is however going into this week we are expecting to see about a thousand this week with another thousand or so spread over the next few weeks as people reactivate or come back after the downtime.

I have made comments elswhere about the under-estimation of things by GoA - Roll of Honour will "soon" be back and only a "small" number of people will be effected by the item corruption.

Did not realise that there were a million characters in the database though - as Luz says that's 100,000 accounts. Must be an awful lot of lasped or unused accounts out there.

We pull Bobkeen's trade logs and search for all instances of Love Story 3/3, if the number you've picked up/bought/been traded is one greater than the number you've handed off then we owe you a Love Story 3/3. Yes it really is as crude as that.
Daft idea (and only applicable to non-ROG items) and maybe need a Supercomputer to do it ....

FOR EACH KNOWN CORRUPTED CHARACTER
..FOR EACH ITEM THAT EXISTS IN THE DAOC DATABASE DROP TABLES
....PARSE CHARACTERS TRADE LOGS
....IF ITEM > 1 THEN RESTORE TO CHARACTER
..NEXT
NEXT

Dunno how many items exist in drop tables - call it X

We therefore need 66000 multiplied by X iterations of the above loop

And yes, I'm kinda joking :P

If you still have old "you've changed your passoword" emails in your mailbox, try old Game passwords. I still have to use my game password from early 2004 to log into RightNow, although I've changed the Game password itself atleast 4 times since than.

.
This line interests me, i wrote my report and tried to recall what did i have and what i did not. I was kinda straight forward what i'm sure about (saved my sc template + picture bout my char) and did alert goa in my msg about NOT BEING sure of my vault / inventory material couse i simply just dump stuff on my chars once i got my hands on itamz.

Is this a fraudulent claim? Not that i wouldnt mind free cash :) but i only want what i had on my account before this "feck up", nothing more nothing less.... Will i be punished becouse not keeping every single item in mind in the terms of closed without a response eh?
Couse if so should ppl just send their sc_template and lose everything else ? :)

It still obviously comes down to the fact that GoA can work with the logs not with the database itself.

For that they must pay Mythic for work as a contractor (depending on scope of support agreements they have). They must of taken the decision not to do this probably because of cost and also because they felt that they could get the server up and running quicker and deal with item descrepancies once the server was back up.

It is obvious that the database holds for every character the information about every item that that character holds as of the last commit whether its RoG or not, this is what myself and Killder have been referring to when talking of a bulk insert.

I do not envy you in the slightest for 1. The stick you guys get and 2. the work you have ahead.

I'm not in the slightest bit happy but I think you seem to be doing all you can given the circumstances.

My concern is being accused of fraud or whatever if I happen to name something incorrectly out of the 50-70 items I think are missing.

On my RN, I stated the items I knew for sure and put question marks against the items I think I had but were not 100% sure, likewise I cant even hope to guess the states of the ROG leggings/hat/sleeves I had, they were all high util and MP's but what more can I do?.

I presume that if we remember something else in the future we can just log another NR with the details?

On a last note can you guys do something about the Accelerated XP etc, can we please start this when people are ready to benefit from it?

My Ranger is my FOTM I played it a lot and now I cant, thats who I want to benefit from the loss of time and enjoyment.
