There is no mention of any distinction, so POSSIBLY by law they are now legally obliged, because they have made the statement.
As its quoted from their homepage I would say its their words. I've noticed that many people can't understand how their database can crash without any reason btw, but imo thats not really suprising as it happens from time to time on most systems. But ofc it doesnt explain why their backup isnt just enough to restore it. It could be that it the errors first came when the server was making a new backup...but as long as we dont know how their servers work or how their what I assume to be customized OS look like its impossible to tell
Oh well, give them time to fix the servers and once its up its time to talk about compensation...but until then I think getting the server back online is more important.
hya im quite injoying playing alb/exel atm during the downtime of pryd im finding its givingme a differnt look on other realms and in the 2 days ive been there ive managed to lvl up to a lvl40 cleric got 2 plat in da bag made a guild joined an allinace bought a guild house, got meself 3 artis and thats in the spaces of days with no plat tranfer or perviouse alts on that realm, hell the way im going i might just stay here :-p .
na but this forced break from pryd has really given us an opatunity to look at the other realms. and see things from there point of view when we are always QQing them, so in my opinion use this time u have look around before pryd come;s back and you resume your old ways :-)

Or just find a map on the net ;P still am usually to Lazy to do so myself, didnt have all to hard finding my way around when starting a Mid/Exca BG char though.
maybe theyll give us the underpopulation bonus again
freebie level in 2 days - extra RPS and XP etc
tbh thats the only thing they could do which would be fair..
still would only last as long as we didnt have clustering so hopefully that will be delayed for at least a week after we get our home back

So, I get an email, "your account has been closed".
Would you not have thought that they would have suspended de-activating accounts while the server was down?
I wonder what damage this downtime will have done?
Should I pay for my accounts to "tamper" around on Excal, or not pay until the server is back up, only to find that there has been a roll back and I have lost lots of items I worked bloody hard for in the last week before Prydwen collapsed?
I guess I wait for feedback from the forums as to what has happened and then judge what to do. If items have been lost I am not sure I can go through the torture and pain of getting them again.
Even more of a worry is that I exchanged lots of plats from Excal to Pryd. The chances are no doubt that I would be still be 60P down on Excal, while 60P worth of items and cash would have "dissapeared" on Pryd, a loss of 120P potentially.
It will be interesting to say the least how they "manage" this.

They did say it shouldnt be more than a few hours rollback and also, I dont think they suspend accounts while prydwen is down as there are quite a few other servers up (even if there is just 1 english/1 semienglish avaible for the english speaking). This is a wild guess, but I think they need to check each account seperatly to find out of the 'owner' plays more than one server and if thats the case I think they better put that energy into fixing the server instead.
