got to agree with ankh, this forum layout is nice

and the point is if all where posted in main forum would be off within a day.

Not upset

I just think it's stupid to split this forum into a hundred different not very active sub-forums, personally I rarely check pryd.net anymore cos of the main forum being almost non active (say 20-30 new posts (posts, not threads) per day) and I'd guess the total activity of these forums have gone down lately too, although I wouldn't know.

What I do know is that I'd need to check... eclipse x2, eclipse as x2, prydwen discussions, secret x2... 7 forums for new posts when I log in here, and that's without looking in trade discussions, player videos, hibernian reporter, recruiting, template discussions or anywhere else. Personally I think that's extremely stupid and I cba to do it. (Admidetly some of these forums aren't exactly very active but still)

IMO you all have a point, so...

As long as there is some discussion going on, leave it in general, when it falls on 2nd page, move it to Movies section for generations to come!

I agree, put it on general discussion so people notice it and when there is no longer any interest in the thread archive it here.

mods like to play the game too

it gets split for a reason - ease of use.
I know ive been searching for a good 20mins of time i didnt want to spend looking for information however now all i need to do is go to the certain catagory and find it within secs..
however - for the basis of a good discussion - ill split this post from the video and place it in the main forum for everyone to comment on

Alternative is to post the link to the movie in the videos section (So we can all find movies in years to come when we need to. Then post a thread in the general forum linking to the thread in the Video section.

That way when the thread does fall off the front page the Mods or thread creator don't have to worry abotu moving it to it's final resting place. To do a complete job the original thread with the Video link should then be editted to link to the discussion thread.

I do agree with Edlina that the general discussion forum is becoming a bit diluted with so many posts being filtered to sub-forums, but it is much easier to find things now.

When you log in the forums tell you which boards have new threads so you know you only need to check them, so it doesn't create all that much extra browsing by having posts split around.

Not really always true, when you need to check posts in your private guild forum, the hibernian discussion and all the sub forums, and then sometimes other forums like public guild, alliance related ones, or offtopic/WoW etc... Still lots of forums to check, imo.

its not very often that people log onto forums knowing exactly what they want to read. Having less sections would widen the variety on the general discussion. Like recently, moving all movies to an entire section, where there was by no means enough to warrant a whole specific section. Fine, the movies stay at the top all the time but there is still a search function. Dont think its really my place to say, but i normally just end up reading spam central and off topic, seems to be more interesting reads. I dont want to put the mods off from what so far has been a fine job, just maybe leave some discussion posts in general for a few days.

Btw, there is a new posts button at the top of the forum. That combined with pressing

, gives you all the new posts.

takes you to the first new post in a thread.

Also, activity on the alliance and guild forums can be see from the main page as that guild name's icon goes from

to

if there are new posts.

Also, moving with redirect seems to be the best of both worlds, you get the redirect in the main forum and the thread ends up in the appropriate forum.
