emote spamming
But still, it's so silly (I don't do it btw, I /rude or /laugh 1 timesOvi wrote:Not sure which is the most childish tbh, the emotespammer or the person reporting them.
As you say people only emote spam to piss people off, as it's a game should they really be going out of their way to piss people off?
I can understand GoA wanting to stop people pissing others off, after all it's their customers getting pissed off, for no other reason than someone else thinks it's a good idea.
That is assuming, ofc, that by "emote spamming" we are referring to using an emote repeatedly, since a single emote should not be of any issue, as it is the onyl way to express any feelings between realms

For the easily hurt here is another solution.
/ignore ! Yes, if you ignore an enemy his emotes won't reach you. Simpler than reporting imho

People seem to think that we ban for doing a few emotes that people might find offensive. It also seems to be thought of as a new thing. Neither of these are true. Doing /rude, /laugh, /taunt etc is not in itelf offensive, it's part of the game and anyone who is offended at having their little digital man laughed at by someone elses little digital man should probably be out in the fresh air more and not playing this game.
What people are being slapped for is for breach of this part of the CoC:
Well you know there is the /ignore command which stops emote spamming.
I guarantee you, you don't get reports from people getting emote spammed because of the "flood", it is those digital man get laughed at case you mentioned.
They are angry, they are pissed, and what other way to avenge themselves than to find a reason to report thatbastardkobold/whateverthatjustkickedmyassandlaughedatme20timesterrible ?
IF the spamming case would be true, they would just /ignore the offender, easier, faster. But no, people who report are 90% pissed/looking for a reason to report <---- childish.
Edit: Users are also advised to use the /ignore command before reporting. It's goas advising, not mine.
Luwis spamming rude are so funneh

Oh sorry didn't see your post, well I stated the obvious then which is apparently well hidden for all those reporting brats.Bidi wrote:I beg to differ.
Isnt that what /ignore is for?
If /ignore does not work (for instance it has not always worked correctly) then why have it.
I see the /ignore system working quite simply as "User A is annoying, spamming crap, begging, <insert whatever else in here>" then you get /ignored.
Am I using the system incorrectly?
Makes 2 of us standing in the light.
Well they both just about greifing someone else for the sake of it so can't see any difference between 'em, cept getting someone banned for a few days is prolly more effective if greifing is what u get off on.
I don't normally /em spam, seems babyish and u can guarentee whoever u do it too will get to blow /kisses at you some time later (okay okay I admit it I do that). Always funny when you find out the guy who does it is like 39 irl or something.

I didn't say it wasn't silly

I can't say I have ever used ignore, I always wonder when I might miss something important if I have someone on ignore. Plus I have never had a situation where someone hasn't stopped "flooding" when asked to do so.
If it's from another realm then chances are one of us is dead and releasing either already, or at the least very soon, I just wish it wasn't me releasing all the time

I fully support GoAs view as given by Requiel, if they are made aware (either by someone reporting or whatever) they should take some action to ensure that the point is made that it is not acceptable behaviour.
Those that do get reported, and action taken against them by GoA may be justified in saying that the reporting was childish etc. but then it only comes across as "pot calling kettle".
how exactly does emote spamming interfere with communication between users?, since the emotes appear in 'game' window rather than the chat window. Basically by banning the first person doing it you started digging and each person you have banned afterwards has just deepened the hole you put goa in by taking such actions against people spamming emotes.Requiel wrote:There's a bit of a misconception here.

What people are being slapped for is for breach of this part of the CoC:
/laughing at someone once or twice is fine and part of the game interplay. Repeating the emote 72 times is excessive. It's important to note that this policy does not only apply to emotes. Continually doing /y or /say for example with the intention of flooding chat buffers is forbidden as it's deeply annoying, very childish and totally unecessary.
The reason you're hearing about it more these days is because a certain well known Alb/Excal player was reported for getting very happy with /emote macros. We considered that his over-use of this constituted flooding and slapped him for it. Since then he's taken it upon himself to report every single person who emotes at him. Some of these reports are justified and so we took action. Those people then did the same and the issue spiralled. Now it seems to have settled back to a more sane level.

CUT! Realm enemies can't give you any information, only emotes. If you ignore an enemy you simply ignore his emotes, nothing missed.
Edit: If you're speaking about the inrealm incidents that isn't of discussion here, we're talking about enemy emotespamming which can simply be ignored without any loss of vital information.
Generally agree, but not 100% true.Lothandar wrote:Realm enemies can't give you any information, only emotes. If you ignore an enemy you simply ignore his emotes, nothing missed.
Stealthers /beckoning to let u know they're up for a 1v1,.
Stealthers /rude /laugh spamming so then can fire stealth lore on their cocky asses (certain high rr sb always /em spams and never pops).
Peeps /dismissing cos they know a fg is inc and don't want to see you or themselves ran over.
Peeps /surrender cos you/they are xping and they don't want a fight.
Oh and all the usual stuff that peeps use to let u know they don't like u very much

not all people pissed who report others, they are aware of GOA's current policiy about this matter and get people banned for FUN. IF this so called flood is a brick in goas eye, why dont you just track them down (guess its easily found in log_files? can be automated or... well not an expert but certainly better than rightnow msgs?) instead of wasting man power and time with reports like this.
