ahh that was a mistake

you can put swear words in the filer then put * round it so it wont kill any words attatched

such as if DOG was a swear word youd put *dog* so it wont kill dogma

Imo we dont need any filter. It's silly to swear in a post anyway so its just common sense not to do so

If you have an issue with swearing, thats what the /filter command is for, you have the choice to USE it.

This is called choice.

Demanding other people dont swear so you dont have to use filter is denying that person their choice and their rights

What makes you such a precious and unique snowflake that YOU can have what YOU want, but other people CANNOT.

Expecting other people to toe YOUR line, when you already have an alternative is just... ugh.. egoism.

Now, given that I lapse into the profane from time to time, its not the sign of a small mind in my case, its a sign of expression. I can use the $50 words all day long, be sarcastic, funny (sometimes), nasty and wind people no end, but at the end of the day, sometimes using 'swear' words is simply the only way to get through to some people or express your actual level of disgust with them.

Telling someone like oh ... Amedor to 'go away' just kind of flops limply off the keyboard, it has no force, no oomph. Turning around and going 'get the f**k away from me Amedor' has a lot more direction and force. Its why you dont read 'F**k off, he hinted' in books or magazines. I picked Amedor because people know him well enough to know that screaming obscenities is sometimes the only valid communication method

Look, the game has a filter, if you werent allowed to swear, it would be permanently locked on and youd be punished for trying to avoid it. You HAVE a choice on the matter, DONT force others toe YOUR personal line, that is tyranny and repression.

It also makes the Almighty cross, and He will smacketh downeth righteously.

lairs worked out a soloution which will make everyone happy.

might still have to wait 2 weeks tho as Im a wimp when it comes to swearing

(dunno bout lairs/ayana potty mouth abilities tho

)

and as its been mentioned before

without the magical hack which all the vbulliten forums metions but no one has the link to - we cannot personalise censoring.

Please see announcements for the swear filter.
Lairiodd has now created a user group for people who do not wish to see swearing.
The swear list contains 2 words atm however im sure it will increase as we notice what words people type.
Just let the mods know if you see any ad we'll add it.
