Crom Cruaich - Advice/tips here pls :)

Post by OohhoO »

I'be been there several times.
Failed every time (due to lag/LDs every time but one).
I'm getting very frustrated with it, so I thought a thread where people who've done it successfully could post their tips/strategies on how to do it (prefereably with a normal Co5-type group) might be helpful for all the poor sods like me :D

From a healers point of view the problem is people not being targetable for cure-poison/heals/rezz down in the ditch. People go down there, get poisoned, can't be healed, die, a healer has to stop healing the group to run right up front to rezz, gets poisoned him/herself, gets LOP from rezzing, other healer can't keep up with keeping the group alive & needs to spam group-heals, Shade pops ... group half-dead ... healers OOP ... healers get agro ... & bye-bye.
Apparently the melee types HAVE to go down there tho to stop Crom AoEing, or so I'm told at least.

U don't need him to stop aeing, so u melee him on the edge of his pit 1st of all (where u can be targeted and in los), while healers steps on top of hill at left before his hill with fop up (it's the hill where u got best view).
Every now and then he aoes, u cure, heal up and let the tanks (better have at least 2 tanks for this) do their job, when the shades pop tanks leave Crom and kill shade near healers (Crom is tethered there so can't follow u) and then go back to Crom, rinse and repeat.
Easy kill (bar LDs etc).
If the Aoe is getting too huge or the healers need a rest just step back off the pit and outside his aoe range and let ppl regain.

Hmm only did it once, but it worked. The group we had was shield tank, bard, 2 druids, ranger, vamp, 2 casters.

The fight went like this:

Tank taunted and engaged Crom, casters nuked him from time to time, druids took turns spreadhealing (costs power but needs no LOS). Bard's job was to cure poison immediately.
When he popped his minions, all except the shield tank concentrated on bringing them down asap.
After all 5 minions were down, all concentrated on Crom.

Power is a problem, therefore bring 3 healers and a FoP. One healer shall only concentrate on cure, the DoT is deadly, the other two take turns with spreadheal. Casters should not spend too much mana on Crom initially, only bring him down a little so he spawns the minions. Nuke those as hard and fast as you can. Once they are gone it's a pretty straight fight against Crom.

Hope it helps.

Aye I guess it would be an easy kill if people didn't keep dying cos they're untargetable ... Maybe people were tired after long Co5 raid.

Most of the successful group setups I've seen seem to have had either 2 druids or 3 mixed-healers too. We started off with 2 Druids & me (Regrowth Warden - no Spread-Heal) but gave 1 Druid to 2nd group who only had 1 healer - They ended up killing Crom & we didn't :p

Saw this on friday news ... dunno if it's even talking about this TBH as it's about as clear as mud - "Important information concerning the last encounter of the Champion Quest
Without revealing off what the last encounter of the quest consists, for those who don't know it yet, we feel it necessary to inform you that characters who face the last monster must stand on the platform that is near the monster in order to receive credit for the encounter. Some classes have a tendency to remain in the distance during the combat but they need to be on this platform when the monster dies if they don't want to do the encounter again."

Hmnn i did it once and we had
2 droods, 1 warden, 1 animist,1ranger,1Hero,1Valewaker and another cast dunno wich kind of char.(we had no Bard, thx to itiems with style reduction cost's, and pots)

It was really easy and in no part of the fight i thought we struggled.
Hero was taunting, and Valwalker did side styles (really think you can do him with two real tanks).

What i saw in the last year since start of ToA is that people forget how to run tank groups(specially at ML9),wich is quite sadly.

Arkaon / Karak-Norn
and plenty of other chars between 10 and 30

Well..lemme see if i remember..hmm...ah y..we had 2 druids 1 bard 2 chanters 1 bainshee...NS and blademaster i think...we setup our healers behind the big column...and put fop there...then we sent our NS and BM to fight crom..we had both chanters casting nukes at distance and using pets...and bainshee was nuking aswell...when 1 got healed they would run bk to column and get healed..not healer run to them...if some1 died..our bard would go to res them...so our druids were safe...when shades popped...we moved behind column and pbed it like mad and kept pets on passive...when shades died...we moved off platform and moved towards entrance and set up fop and rested..then we repeated the crom tactic...on the last shade is just the same as before..but u gotta kill ur pets...or else havoc...then we just repeated crom tactic...but we used 2 fops toward end...and tried using different style pets..hope this helps u m8 :) didn't help my hands :p
