Can Battler be active as pierce?

No. 1H blades. 1H crush. And Large Weapon only (LW both crush and slash damage ones iirc)
Pierce actifacts are:
Golden Spear (hero + stealthers only)
Spear of Kings
Crocodile Tooth Dagger
Traitors Dagger

You can carry battler in your 2H slot and use the charge2 still = 20% extra absorb (and -20% to your enemie(s)) or a 'free' AP2.
I reckon a Golden Spear book is cheaper then Battler at the moment; so I wouldnt trade 1:1 if I where you

yeah i use battler on arcsalin, it's silly the way peeps just refer to battler in a blades only spec, crits on shades are usable with blade weaps so is no problem using battler for pa chain and any other crits. Mine is in my 2h slot(mainly cuz i cba with golden spear and know that i won't get the help to get it) and even tho i have a low blades spec with 42 pierce and i still get decent Pa's etc, i just switch the weap for evade chains, is simple as one-two-key

Not really for a ranger in practice. If you got a hard time getting sufficient utility / TOA-bonusses you can get away by using an unspecced offhand (eg. use a slasher in your offhand with pierce-spec as Usp did).
Result is piss poor offhand-damage (with huge variance) but thats it. I sometimes use a Pierce Sun mainhand and Blades Sun offhand on some enemies because I know they got fuck all energy-resists; resulting in more chance to even proc the debuff + more TOA-bonusses
Also traditional bow-specced rangers probably see their offhand hit as a bonus to damage; not something they really rely on
