GOA and the 66,000 restore,
GOA have basically asked YOU all to submit your lost items....why?
The several thousand inactive chars are not going to be requesting items back now are they?!....lot less work for GOA.
It's clear GOA had no intention of making extra work for themselves by restoring the server back to how it was before. So instead looked at the simplest option....
The correct option would have been to restore every lost item....
Anyway, post cluster and i've decieded enough is enough. My last account closed today, and am now subbing up EVE - different game but much better support!
And i've heard ppl calling GOA, DEVS? - they are not DEV's, they are nothing more than moderators...and poor ones at that. I did have alot of good times in DAoC, but I gaurntee it would have been alot more fun had GOA never been involved.... good luck all, signing off!

See ya, Leg. Not in DAoC myself anymore, but never nice to see someone leave over something like this.

Good work on missing the facts by the way Pheas
GoA couldn't restore cos there was no way of telling exactly when the corruption started.

The corrupt database could affect anyone, active or inactive, but it does seem as if most problems were with fairly new characters or ones whose equipment has recently been changed a lot. That was certainly the case with my six and some others I have heard about. Could just be a non representative sample though.

Actually they could not have restored the information, according to a CS I got a reply from about restoring my lost items, I was quoting to them to load up a backup on another server then compare the latest good backup against what the characters currently have and restore what they can, and they replied to me saying.....
Hello again,
We are not working from a duplicate backup. If such a duplicate backup existed we would not need to manually restore items in this way. We have checked trade logs to restore valuable and non-tradeable items where this is possible. Where it isn't possible we are compensating with cash and for lower level characters either Aurulite or Daemon Seals.
Yours sincerely,

Now guys I do IT for a living and if I told the site I work on, sorry you are going to lose half your information on customers as I do not have a backup then I would get in big doo doo, this is no different, except we are the customers.
But from the above quote from GOA you can understand the mammoth task they have undertaken because they did not have a backup to refer to, and I think they have performed pretty well, I would hate to be in this situation on SWG, they would of just said, tough you will have to start again as we are lazy gits and will not spend any money on rectifying this fault.
Thats one reason why I have been patient for my 2nd account to be restored (2 months now).
