We were discussing in another thread about the effect on the economy this crisis and the incoming cluster will have, but decided to open a new thread about it, might just give an interesting discussion.

Prices go up for two reasons
A: Items are rare
B: many people are looking for the same item.

You've got whole of Hibernia shopping for a new suit, the prices are going to skyrocket.

What would be better would be to give each person a pick of one of say 30 ROG items for each one they lost rather than cash. You lose a ROG sword and they generate 30 of them and you can pick the best one. Maybe add an npc to do it . That way you add value to the economy rather than adding just cash.
Cryn wrote: Yup and in fact the third cause of inflation is also present - more currency in circulation. The more they give away, the less each individual coin is worth, and with the same number of people competing for the same range of items, all the extra money does is guarantee a price increase.
As I don't have any experience about the current economy I'm just gonna have to work by theory.
in my eyes, two things could happen:

A: the prices will lower because the amount of available goods (the addition of hib/exc) will rise more than the demand of the combined servers.

B: The prices will rise because the amount of available goods is not enough to cover the increased demand of the combined servers.

I hope for you lot that it's A, but I'm putting my money on B, since demand on hib/exc already is quite high due to a higher population and rare items there are probably quite rare already.

Anyway what's your opinion?

Excal is unaffected by this atm, so it will only get better regarding economy.

As to 75p etc, we don't have enough information of how many have gotten items replaced with money etc.

Most people have a template with lots of artifacts + sc'ed items. Not so many that use RoGs.

You won't have many people buying artifacts as all those will be replaced. Only things sought for now will be tailoring + sc I am sure of.

Economy won't get hit too bad.

What will get hit too bad is the unability to solo or make smaller groups one we cluster. Plus it we'll get all the l33tist and lame people of excal (that's a lot -.-). Also, if you think artifacts and stuff are camped on prydwen, imagine what they will be after clustering when greedy people camp across the servers -.-

The prices should rise for pryd and drop for excal.

Pryd -> doubled supply, more than doubled damand

Excal -> doubled supply, less than doubled demand

This is for items like artis, where there is a limited pop rate. Otherwise, prices should be similar as the number of people farming a give item should scale with the population. Also, even arti mobs are not always insta killed when they pop, but pop rate is a factor

However, if the extra money from pryd is significant, then prices could even rise for excal as there is such an increase in demand (or cash in this case).

There's not that much anyway on our markets to buy, i went looking for some stuff yesterday on ME and found little or nothing of any use that could help my bainshee or vampiir to even make a start at the pve process again nm rvr. Not that i've even had a reply from GOA yet regarding my complaint.

Might be a lot of people have to list their merchant again after server has gone back up. Mine was still on ME, but some other people i know had to do /listmerchant again.

And about prices, i'm affraid prices will go skyhigh if many people gotten 75P and some even got 140P+. Can only hope it won't be like that.

We dont know how many people got cash sofar, but with new RoG merchants, this should be a bit better that it could be... I think in first 2 weeks after clustering prices will go up, but in a long term I think we can expect prices a bit lower than those on Excall atm... :treeebear

I just hope, GoA didnt put too much cash in the game because of pryden probs...

It will be hard to determine if they put in too much or not. The biggest problem will probably be the amount of harder to get gear that went missing.

I for example had just farmed me a plaited hair last week, I however am unsure where I had left it. And with 6 cleaned out chars on main account and 2 on my BB account, I have no way of knowing where it was. If such items wont be returned, then there will be a huge lack of items.
