Name nominations for new domain name

Since it is looking like the prydwen.net name is going to be in transition for the next 2-3 months, the plan is to use a new domain name until then.

Ideally, this name should be reasonably close to the original. The plan is that people can post suggestions in this thread and then after a few days we will have a poll.

From the domain name thread, the suggestions so far are:

http://www.pryd.net
http://www.newprydwen.net
http://www.hibbies.net
http://www.hibcentral.net
http://www.prydcentral.net
http://www.prydwen.co.uk
http://www.weloveankh.net ( hmm not sure how that got through quality control :) )

I will add any others suggested here, and then we will probably need to do a short list (max number of options in a poll ).

You can use any standard whois server to check if a name is free for example : here.

Might be an idea to contact the company hosting prydwen.net now and ask them to let the owner of the domain now to contact Banana.

Maybe it is just someone who wanted prydwen.net to keep open for forums and would be glad to transfer the rights.

No, the problem is that there is a processes after a domain name expires. There is up to a 45 day cooling off period followed by a 30 day redemption period followed by up to 5 days for it to be deleted.

This means that someone who owns a domain name has a chance to get it back if they forget to pay. This means that it won't be available for 2-3 more months.

Pryd.net is not a bad suggestion imo. Short, similar to the old name, easy to pass on.
