should swearing (moderate in normal postal conversation) be allowed or should we 'think of the children' and people who dislike swearing and enable the swear filter (again).

Please note that if the magority vote yes to enable - by all means continue to swear if you feel you need to however please dont put spaces in between to bypass the system.

But if you but a swear ban in then 12+ wouldn't swear and you could singlehandedly turn around this chav-nation we call britain!

No, don't allow it - it makes a bad example.
Kids imitate grown ups - the more the grown ups are of example the less bad behaviour we will have in future.

I say have the filter, I see no reason to have to Swear, just people running out of things to say that is doing so ;P "more or less".

A poll for this is unessesary, make the choice as an Admin!

I'm in favour of the filter, not because I condone censorship, nor because I am particularly offended by the use of expletives.

Swearing, used sparingly, can serve as a useful language tool in order to emphasise a point or express an extreme state of annoyance or enthusiasm.

Unfortunately too many people seem to use it to deliberately insult, antagonise or offend others.

As has been stated, many people resort to swearing because they lack the communication skills to express themselves in an articulate manner. By removing their ability to swear we may actually encourage them to pick up a dictionary and give a little thought to what they want to say..

While we're at it, is there any chance of removing their ability to spam pointless and frequently purile responses?.. since when has "hehehe" or "lol" without further comment been regarded as an intelligent or constructive addition to a discussion?

/em steps off soap-box

<edit> and by "further comment" I dont mean 6 lines of useless smilies :p
