EA buys into Mythic..

Doubt it will be 6 months, Ultima Online is still running and so is Everquest 1 (yes, I do know EQ1 isnt EA...but point is that old games doesnt go away that easy).

Earth and Beyond did, so sometimes they do go away that easily.

If any company has the bottle to turn off a MMORPG it's EA, and i really can't see that they will gain anything by keeping the servers running for long after WAR comes out, especially if WAR is as good as we all hope it will be.

i dont think it's a good example.
E&B was neither a great success, nor it was long on the market let alone had a huge player base.
not like a dramma tbh.

and tbh if in 5 years DAOC is gone (which i doubt) what's the big fuss.
there is always time to move on, don't tell me guys you want to play the same game for like 10 years, do you?

I agree with Shishi on this one. Its one thing if its a bad game - but a good game is something else. I mean, Meridian 59 have been around for years too

I answered this in another thread but I'll repeat it here as well:

1) The deal with GOA goes forward as planned.

2) DAoC is not being shut down and as to its future, that's one of things that we are talking about with EA. As I've said elsewhere, all the key guys that I'm talking with at EA are DAoC fans and long-time players. As far as EA is concerned, both DAoC and WAR are very valuable properties. I'm sorry I can't say anything else for now.

Ive just started my 6th account for my gf to play - you're task for this month is to all get you're partners to open an account

I think it was a misconception, many people forget the French/German/Spanish/Italian servers when comparing so whilst it's a valid argument that the US servers have a vastly larger playerbase and a bigger playerbase per server at any time for English speaking players, it doesn't hold true in comparisons like the one Trez used (or well, I could be wrong I aint checked the size of the non-English servers recently).

Why do you need to try to get more people to pay? Sounds like you're single handedly funding them with all your accounts already

Crom got a problem with that, aint got a partner atm and the one I had recently, well, she made me play the game hehe.
