Precisely, the pendulum keeps swinging. It will swing again when something happens that generates a gut response over-riding memory and rational thought.

That's also a perfect explanation as to why people flame others online too in fact :p

Well you spend your life caring what people say, wasting your time getting upset and trying to control situations/people you cant. Ill opt for shrugging it off and caring about things that matter.

My way kicks ass irl!

People are responsible in part for the situations they find themselves in and they should take some responsability for it. I got burgled a few months back and as annoying as it was I have to take a share of the responsability. I had the upper hand because i knew that burglers existed, they however didn't know i had a flat full of nice stuff to rob. It had occured to me to take steps to protect my home but "I never got round to it" so I suffered the consequences.

True enough but does that mean you should accept burgulary as a fact of life ? Should you say "oh I got burgled never mind little point in complaining/reporting I'll just accept it".

It is in us all to strive for a better way of live (real or e-based) and that means not accepting things simply because that is the way they are. Sorry if I seem an idealist but idealist pursuing goals do change the world - it just takes some time.

What really gets on my tits is when someone uses power to silence you, then you can't flame back, it is teh sucks.
Perhaps they shouldnt - but many people do. Problem is that some people seem to go on a crusade to flame or do personal insults when ever they post. It's easy to bite back when somebody insult you in one or two posts, but when you find six..or seven...or even more posts it starts to get incredible anoying and sooner or later it WILL make the person whos getting attacked feel victimized or insulted.

I also think it's really lame that some people seem unable to give critics without adding personal insults or swearing in their posts. I dunno about you guys but I don't need to tell people to stfu or foad in RL just cos they don't agree with me or have different views on subjects - sure it happens, but it sure as hell isnt often (while on the internet you can usually find those kind of attacks or other kinds of insults in every second post sometimes)
