No iirc, they banned some players that were duping credits..but not only did they do that, they banned everyone the dupers had given credits too..like guys passing in the street etc.

There was a mass protest from the player base in some city somewhere, and the GM's were tasked in to break it up. When they couldn't dispurse the crowd they started mass Teleporting people in to space for like a week.

Would be nice if GOA operated within an SLA as the letter suggests. Currently the EULA and CoC are all about responsibilities of the user and things GOA won't do. Would be nice if - like the rest of us who provide systems - they had an agreement for level of service that covered issues like server uptime, response time on support issues, etc.

Can't see it happening though. They've got awat without an SLA this long and I don't suppose they like the idea of having standards to meet.

Whilst not being quite as dismissive as Quin was earlier in this thread I do think the expectations/hopes of the original letter (such as an SLA and guarantee) are aiming a little high. Aiming high is no problem if you are expecting a series of negotiations where you hope to meet at some more sensible level but clearly that will not happen either.

The letter does have some positives. I am sure it is not too often that a whole alliance has agreed a joint letter and as I have said before it does seem to me that GOA re taking some notice of the player base. In that case this should be another kick up the arse for GOA and I actually hope they respond to it rather than just ignore it.

Was the downtime GOA's fault - well I don't know because they are unwilling/unable to tel us what happened or how.

But the lack of information and sense about how to put it all right was GOA's fault. In these cases they do seem to have listened to the player base and tried hard to put it right. If nothing else this type of letter should try to ensure that GOA give more thought to their customers and we do not see the enfuriating comments about how GOA own the data and our toons are not ours and we have no recourse to anything so do not bother making a fuss. We have a right to protest and GOA should acknowledge it and act sensibly on it.

So no problems with making the gesture as long as the expectation levels are realistic.
