But, as Mythic said before, this is a suck-it-and-see period and they will make adjustments as the server settles down.
I have to flame again! :)

Maybe untoad, but not without the opted elements of:

stats cap
melee dmg/speed
casting speed/dmg
etc.
Which come from Catacombs items in those new nonToA servers.

To fully understand this, please read the post before this one too ^^

The casting speed/magic damage/melee damage etc items only work in pve. the stats cap how ever work in rvr.

Fifta wrote:Your statement brings one type of players in my mind. Those wo don't have enough time dedicate to the game or people that are just too lazy to get the items that makes them "OP", like artifacts in ToA.

Now it just brings out one question.
Why do these people roll chars on those new nonToA servers at all then, because they still cannot compete against the players who have "OP" item sets (just that the "OP" item sets come from Catacombs this time)?

So after all, what changes for them in the game?
the level of differance between a non-toa or non-cata char is less on theese new servers.
If you run on a regular server with no OP´t template vs. a full op´t ToA ML10 char, the differance is huge.

Fifta, you seem to be seriously struggling with the vast difference between easy to aquire Catacombs items that take next to no time investment to aquire, and extremely time consuming to aquire ToA items. To get an artifact can take hours especially if it's down, scroll hunting or plat farming to buy takes hours, MLs take hours and require large amounts of players - add all that together, add in the time between doing it all and it's not hard to see that to fully ToA out you need weeks and tens of players. Compare that to Catacombs where you need 1 to a maximum of 8 players and only a few hours to get what you need and it's not hard to see that there's a massive different in time between ToA and Catacombs and a very small difference in effectiveness in Catacombs items compared to ToA items.

True, but you still have to level a character from 1 to 50
:)

And I have to admit that I didn't know that those bonuses won't work in rvr and this kinda eats the basement of my posts, doesnt it?

All I can say is, sorry.

(Altho I'm gonna cram up some information about those bonuses when I get home from work, just to be sure they won't work in rvr)

Well, that's what I'm in the middle of trying to find out :)

Well, if this is a flame Fifta it has to be one of the most reasonable flames I've read in some time :)

I actually don't think we're disagreeing. People like myself who have limited play time during the week will still have a chance to get the catacombs items because at present they are not governed by ridiculously long spawn times, stupidly rare scrolls that are needed to activate them, and then an ageing period of time needed to get them to full stats.

I actually think the playing field is more level on the classic ruleset servers and I wait to see how much difference catacombs items will actually make to RvR encounters.

What I am NOT going to do is spend a long time researching a most opted template and then dedicate my play time in the persuit of the items to get that template. I will use what i can find, buy or trade and see how I get on. If I have trouble in RvR I can always roll an alb and zerg :)

I just got the point where I am really enjoying DAoC as it stands today. I don't wanna start again and potentially not have fun. Plus I hate leveling. I'm thinking the Fins on Lam will be begging for submission on day 2.

Biggest mistake I made with the new servers was not taking 2 days off work, starting a necro on day 1, beating everyone to 50 and going out to solo all the unclaimed lvl1 keeps and run off solo with a relic :<
