Its unlikely they'll shoot and gut this cash cow, the only thing that will ensure they do is if people walk away from the game and stop paying subs. Doomsayers, whiners and complainers may well ensure that that could happen.
It all comes down on EA's perception of what is business profitable; judging from the different sizes of company am a bit scared tbh, judging from Origin's Studio ending am even more worried :/

And now we can be quite sure EA won't kill any of Mythic's games, eh? ;)

Err no? :p War is on his way, if it doesn't break the numbers expected by EA be pretty sure it will get thrown away, and if in meantime Daoc numbers (as it's expectable) will lower even more ... well do your own maths ^^

Exactly, fact is DAoC isn't that much of an earner anymore, EA are undoubtedly more interested in the fact that WAR has the potential to be a massive earner, because of that there's a big chance they could be more than happy to let DAoC slip for the sake of WAR by reorganizing dev. teams to move people off the DAoC team etc.

ofc. ;)

In general reponse to other posts by people:

DAOC is now a low risk project. Its is stable as a project, it is profitable, it has a stable user base. Infact when the accountants came in and did all the audits that occur prior to these takeovers, daoc and it's income would of been the main company asset. Profits from DAOC are what will be propping up the WAR development.

Now like all mmorpgs, daoc has a shelf life. I really don't believe that the daoc shelf life will be affected by this takeover. Infact if the EA marketing machine gets behind DAOC it could be very positive, they have the clout to raise profiles within games mags.

From experience, in the event of takeovers, the last thing to go is what is making a profit, and the personnel and infrastructure that surrounds that. In IT terms this means maintenance and support for existing products. What does dissappear first is continued development on existing projects and development of incomplete projects.

Did I miss something already? Where is written that less people will work on it?

And with EA and Mythic merging, Mythic should have to ability to use more technologies then they can use now ... There are good sides to it too.

And do you thing Mythic would let EA crush them? I don't think so ...
