is that serious? 600k active CHARACTERS....please read before you make another idiotic comment.Bugzy wrote: I barely play everyday. People furthermore tend to have alot of alts.

600k active characters ???? even at 10 characters per account that is 60k players but I only see 1k to 1.5k on line at any time on prydwen. Sorry to say I am struggling with the maths on that one.
why dont people get this? people log in and log out all the time - some can only play in the morning, some can only play during the small hours. I'd say 600k CHARACTERS is a fair figure.

Don't really want to turn this into a series of posts about numbers as when all is said and done we have little choice but to accept what GOA and the GM's tell us.
I saw Req post saying there were a million characters and then clarify by saying there were 600k active ones.
If we assume everyone has a full stack of 10 toons in their main account and 10 bb's (or whatever) in their second account then we are still looking for 30k active players on prydwen. If the figures show no more than 1k-1.5k on at any one time then there must be 1k different people logging on and off each hour of the day and night.
Not an exact science I know as there are all sorts of variables - I may also have a different definition of active.
At any rate it makes little difference to any of this and thinking about it my post is therefore pretty pointless (like most of my others I guess).

There are people logging in and out every second - im not sure whether req defines "active" as people who pay there subs every month or just characters that are played every week or so. As you said there are lots and lots of variables.

The problem with the free time is that whatever Goa do they can't win. One thing is for sure they have to give everyone the free time at the same time.
For the vast majority of Prydwenites it doesn't make any difference when the days are given, since they will pay anyway and carry on playing until they get the free time.
The people it does affect are only really the ones that are planning to stop their subs for one reason or another and their subs run out. If they give the subs now then people will complain that they got the free time while they still can't use their character. If they wait until the characters are sorted out people complain because they can't play now.
I suspect what people would prefer depends on their rl situation, and also the situation with their characters. I have stopped one of my accounts, the only thing the 10 days will be used for is to check that my character on the account who was stripped gets his items back, so in my case it pays to wait.
As you can see though, the only people it really makes a difference to are those stopping their subs, and hence not high on the priority list to keep happy at the moment

It could even be characters on paid accounts, that would inflate the numbers significantly due to all the Excal people with alts ready for cluster etc...pikeh wrote:There are people logging in and out every second - im not sure whether req defines "active" as people who pay there subs every month or just characters that are played every week or so. Very true. What I still don't get is what's the motivation for holding off until they have sorted the items? Putting aside people who intend to stop their subs, the people who are playing are playing without their items and paying for it. Holding off giving them free time doesn't change their level of inconvenience.Ovi wrote:As you can see though, the only people it really makes a difference to are those stopping their subs, and hence not high on the priority list to keep happy at the moment
If GOA were really concerned about doing that, they'd give the people who are still waiting some more free time in recognition that while prydwen may be back up, their characters are not.
It's a similar issue with the bonuses that run out Friday. Quite a few people had much less opportunity to use them because they were waiting for items to be sorted.

im not convinced about that 600k characters, i know that a total for prydwen would probably be in that region but 60k active players is over the top, on average theres 600 players on prydwen, thats 1% of what they say, i simply cannot believe the numbers add up,
GOA lie alot, its a fact, i made a post about anyone recieving items during the weekend, as they said they would be working, and so far noone has specifically said, afew ppl have heard of ppl getting items back, but im sorry if it takes 2 days to fix 2 hib accts then we will be waiting along time

I would guess that there are "accounting" reasons for delaying as long as possible, and as it doesn't matter to 95% of people when it is given they may as well keep the accountants a little happier.Cryn wrote:Very true. Not that the accountants will be happy giving away 10 days to 6000+ accounts (based on 600k active characters
