I don't tend to pick people up on it because I don't think it's my place to dictate how others express themselves publically.
I stand corrected on this point.. I agree wrong choice of word, but wasnt a direct insult at anybody personaly.
My apoligies to all on the forum with learning difficulties.
Cryn wrote:Do you really think if your children look over your shoulder while you attack people calling them sheep and retards it's a good example for them to follow? Not trying to question your parenting skills, but you did raise the issue of them seeing unacceptable stuff while you post.
same as above i wasnt attacking anybody..
I would prefer my children to be reading the word sheep in the context that it was used than looking over my shoulder and reading the words f**** & c**** and others we all know as most parents would, but having said we all know these words from a young age but that doesnt mean we have to condone the use of them all the time does it.. theres a time and a place for all language and they are part of this language, you certainly wouldnt use those sorts of words in conversation with your parents or your grandparents out of simple respect.. even though they know they exist..
must be my age.. ;) or the parent protection bubble kicking in..

oh and welcome back Cryn nice to see ya.. :D

and yes mojo i did see the sneaked in word but i wouldnt really class it as bad language tbh.. my point of bad language in posts that i dont like to see is the F and C words.. to me when these are used there usually used to attack people.. bit petty now..

anyway not wanting to fall out with people i stated a point its been questioned and rightly so and ive been pulled up on certain statements which i have retracted and apologised for but i still stand by my point that Bad language and im not talking about shit and crap we all know by now, shouldnt be seen on the forum IMO.

Sorry Mojo you've got me confused (easily done I admit)

You were content in the knowledge that you would be causing offense to someone but were not trying to start a fight !!! Then why did you need to cause offense ?

Your point could have been made without causing offense (I think) and it is one that has been made before - use of certain words, generally regarded as swear words, can highlight something if used in a descriptive manner and the new filter does allow an element of choice (as long as people do not try to find a way around it such as using spaces).

The nice thing is most peeps seem to think there is a line beyond which we should not cross, all we have to do is decide where the line is O.o

This is what I was saying I find weird. Like you, I wouldn't dream of using a strong swear word in front of my mum, dad, aunt or uncle, but I use them quite freely with my brothers. I also know that my parents use them quite freely when socialising with their friends. It's pretty strange behaviour when you look at it.

And I think you hit it on the head when you said there being a time and a place. The problem I think here is that quite a few people think a web forum IS the time and place. It's social, it's relaxed, and everyone is seen as an equal. There are no VISIBLE young people, so our little "it's okay to swear" indicators are flashing in the back of our heads maybe.
oh and welcome back Cryn nice to see ya.. :D
Thanks, it's nice to see you are still here too ;)
