jenifer wrote:does that mean that those with 'file corruption' have been using hacks or some sort of 'hax' program like duplicating... cos then surely they wil also get banned like the '100' or so list they proudly boasted about banning - ironically prior to the whole issue of no server!!

well trust GoA to conk up my great come back ... and to all of you ... how much i have missed you all!!!!!

:kesxex:

Not really Jen, I noticed I got duplicated Items the day before they closed down the server, wasent many but still, destroyed the duplicates and reported it in to GOA.

Think I heard other getting dups also, or loosing items they had, so nope, has nothing to to with any hax or nothing.

so in the mean time i'm just entertaining myself with photoshop!
Then why don't you ppl start to use a voicecom and try a diffrent game thats not as big as DAoC like "Soldat" or something and just have fun and still talk to eachother.

Instead of those PM's.

Just a suggestion im playing lots of Heroes 4, Neverwinter nights Baldur's gate series etc.

Its real fun and I can quit whenever I want to :)

Anyway Take care all of you Pryd.net post farmers :)

Ovi wrote:Legally you wouldn't have a leg to stand on, the service has had no downtime whatsoever, the vast majority of servers are still up and running. Any freetime, if that's what they decide to do, is merely a gesture of goodwill.

So, if the service as had no "downtime", as you say, then no players are entitled to freetime... even those who had active accounts when the server went down.

If they give freetime to those who had active accounts at the time of the server being taken down, then they have to give freetime to players who have renewed subscriptions during the server downtime (well time to compensate for time they could have played on Prydwen at least). If they make a distinction, then it's wrong because what about players who have played DAoC for 2 years and have paid more subs to GOA than those who've only played a few weeks? Why should a player who has only been playing say 2 weeks on Prydwen before the downtime be esteemed more than a player who played solidly for say 2 years, took a break from the game and renewed his/her subscription during the server downtime? It just doesn't make sense.

Not that I'm arguing with you Ovi, but I'm just looking at it from another point of view.

2 years or 2 weeks dosent matter, they should compansate for the amount of days we have lost from the servers went down.

Ankh Morpork wrote:[30-08-2005] Progress on Prydwen

The cause of the issues affecting Prydwen have now been identified. File corruption has been discovered in several hundred character inventories and we have been examining them one by one to purge the database, before beginning the tests and necessary checks preceding a server restart. This work explains the unusual period of server shutdown. There will naturally be compensation to Prydwen players for this unavailability and we are continuing to do everything that we can to get the server restarted as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

If these are GOA's words, then quite possibly they now have to give all Prydwen players (with accounts active at the time of the server going down and those who renewed whilst the server was down) compensation. There is no mention of any distinction, so POSSIBLY by law they are now legally obliged, because they have made the statement.

I could be wrong, but you never know!

Another thought... what if the vaulting/inventory problems had been "hidden" for a while and Prydwen was the first server to manifest corruption?

Could it be that any "hidden" problems might also exist on other servers? If so, then will we see those servers being taken down also?

I shudder at the prospect!
