I mean for example, some one says global warming, America says no to the kyoto treaty and then some years later individual states ignore its government and decide to side with the treaty anyway because their local voters know that it is an issue of reality and not National economics... :)
... and yet, the whole US still gets slamed over it.

More importantly, the real problem is that the Kyoto accords are driven more by politics than science. There are actual costs in implementing Kyoto, therefore, it should only be implemented if the benefits are proven.

The reason that this is even an issue is tied back around to the politics angle. By politicising the science, the trust people have in the scientists is reduced/negated.

So, first we should have proven the science. This requires making predictions and then having those match experiments. This has not been accomplished yet by climate scientists wrt global warming. This is because their predictions are "results orientated" and are not in fact attempts to actually predict.

Appt it was the bones of 2 diff dinosaurs.

http://www.angelfire.com/mi/dinosaurs/brontosaurus.html

the other dinos are prolly fine ;)

odd tho. it says the dino was discredited in 1975.
Why was i taught about a dinosaur called the brontosaurus when i was at school if it had been discredited the year i was born?

None of them exist it's a test from God I tell you!!!!

(why any god would be cruel enough to test you & play games with your mind is one of those eternal questions they can't answer - maybe you get to the pearly gates he says 'Mwaaa haaa haa haa haaaaaa - I was playing with your mind like a toy & I don't exist anyway!!!!')
Those that can't lead follow.

Those that can lead should admit when they're lost.

While Charlton Heston was lobbying for gun ownership, Doug McClure was making sure noone found out he never really fought a brontosaurus with makeshift firebrand.

Well, perhaps you don't have all the data just yet at hand in the way that the US finds it acceptable. I think the biggest wake up call on this issue is what happened in New Orleans last year (albeit there were faults with government policy on that issue concerning the levee's etc). Natural disasters sadly have some very bad aspects concerning politics and human nature before, during and after. How much truth there is in the Global Warming issue and what happened to New Orleans is the food of conspiract theorists. No data at hand and not likely to be either due to the way the US wants to see that representation. But it is my opinion that there is a nice movement veering towards conserving the planet now in the US than ever before. The world is starting to see the issue of Global warming in many different ways due to the possible side effects and hidden issues that could manipulate it in politics, economics, geography and sociologically.

With regards to Kyoto though, I am not agreeing that it is a perfect solution. Not even that it is the right one, just that there is a rather big lack of alternatives to it at this moment in time. What people should remember about the politics in the agreement is just an excuse to continue as we are in some respects. I doubt that is sustainable and the US government will likely cave in to the state consensus on the issue of GW and sign the Kyoto agreement at some stage in the future. We all know Mr Bush is an idiot but in saying that is that he has one thing right though. We should all be looking for environmentally better alternatives and technology to the lifestyle that industrialised countries and continents wish to continue at optimum state.

Btw Lairr, I am not American so you may feel slightly aggrieved that I am making comments about American politics and human behavior at the same context - because I am English :). I just take an interest in world politics and actually I like American politics alot. I remember one of Bush's addresses to congress just after he was re-elected and as a speech, I found it very inspiring. It is just too bad that most of what is said in those speeches of any politics in any government is usually more fluff than substance :(
