Daoc is gonna die?
My experience differs totally from yours once again then.Xest wrote:I disagree, maybe things are different on Prydwen but on both MLF and Merlin where I've played most on US NF definetely increased accessibility to RvR for a lot of people, there's plenty of random groups around now, stealthers are spread much further and wider instead of clustering into 10fg at AMG now also. I think many forget how few people could RvR before NF when it was limited to maybe 3 or 4 gank groups per server.
I find NF RvR totally inaccessible unless I want to solo, and not much fun - too fast, too bugged, & too imbalanced.
I never really had problems finding fun balanced fights in OF.
The guild I was in when NF was introduced more or less stopped RvRing for various NF-related reasons.
The guild I'm in now doesn't RvR at all beyond Leivirk.
Amazingly there are still plenty of new players. You can find them if you really look hard. The problem as you so rightly point out is that the game is simply neither attractive for nor geared towards new players so they give up after a couple of weeks & just disappear without anyone really having noticed their presence.Luz wrote: Keep in mind the topic and also what does all them expansions really offer a NEW player? ... Yes, new classes. Cata = new quests and instances.. and thats all. SI has no dungeons for lowlvls. ToA has nothing at all for low players. And it doesnt matter because 99% of whatever can be offered is abandoned, you can XP an entire day without ever seeing another person, in an MMORPG??

Atm DAoC is slowly but steadily gaining new players. The average number of players has constantly risen over the last months.Dallanah wrote:Atm lot of people is quitting daoc cause:
1- no time enough to make mls, artie hunts or artie exp.
2- they cant go play frontiers solo, and few groups invite peeps go out die and log.
3- class that was ok time ago is crap atm and u dont have spirit enough for start again leveling a toon.

Dunno how you can say NF is less balanced than OF, I guess you've forgotten pre-nerf savage/zerker trains or Alb groups being the only ones with BoF and SoS for much less RA points than nowadays and much more effective.
OF = 3/4 fully twinked high RR gank groups out a night only then a massive zerg maybe once every few weeks.
NF = Soloers, twinked groups, pickup groups, zergs, the lot. It's just so much more varied with so many more people out RvRing in general.

I did not play in OF RvR so I have no experience of that. RvR is actually very good in this game, in FG's Zergs whatever. It is nearly always good fun - maybe thats the groups of people I have got to know and run with. I do love that bit of it and it is delivering what I wanted.
All the changes have been in that direction making it easier to get there etc. and they have been good from that perspective. Apart from ToA which was a step in the wrong direction.
All the changes have however narrowed the appeal of the game as far as I can see.

I believe it's fair to say that you can split DAoC players into 2 groups:- Those that like ToA and those who totally hate it. SI and Catacombs were the best expansions in my opinion.
The fact that we are getting "Classic" DAoC servers (i.e without ToA), only proves that some love ToA, whereas a high proportion don't. There must be a high number of players who have complained that ToA has ruined the game, otherwise we would not be getting the "Classic" servers.
So, keeping to the thread, some players may wish to only play on the Classic servers because they don't have to spend time getting artefacts, hunting scrolls, doing MLs etc. The Classic servers may therefore keep the game going a bit longer, but I think most players generally believe DAoC is ready for the junkyard. It will be a slow and painful death... what we need is electronic Euthanasia. The game needs to be put out of its misery... and the sooner the better. Then everyone can move on to pastures new!

we sometimes got overrun with 2+FG by one of the GG.
Arkaon / Karak-Norn
and plenty of other chars between 10 and 30
Your experience is the opposite of mine.Xest wrote:Dunno how you can say NF is less balanced than OF, I guess you've forgotten pre-nerf savage/zerker trains or Alb groups being the only ones with BoF and SoS for much less RA points than nowadays and much more effective.

NF = 3/4 "soloers", 1/4 groups who don't want anyone under RR5 (not even the PUGs want anyone under RR5 nowadays =/)
As for unbalanced, what was previously savage/zerker trains is now high-RR casters/archers.
