AC raids GOA start a discussion:

I'm against AC raids, but if they introduce measures to stop them then it's a form of discrimination against those who may only be able to play the game during unsociable hours. Why should such people be unable to play the game how they want to?

It's a bit like trying to introduce laws to stop 24 hour shops from selling stuff in the early hours of the morning, because that's a time when most other people are tucked up in bed. Or it's like telling people they can't drive their cars in the early hours because the noise may disturb those who are asleep.

AC raids are a nuisance, but I don't think they can really stop them. There'd probably be a case for legal action to be taken by those who can only play during unsociable hours.

That is a form of grief play wether they used game mechanics or not it was clearly meant to piss people off.

So what do you do knowing that?

Seems fair enough, and probably warrants relics locked over night till some or fair solution is gained, ie must have all people on AC to have gained a realm rank or two during pvp combat as a condition would seem fair to me :>

Probably the fairest solution, lock relics at night. Doesn't stop night time players playing, just stops people staying up specifically to raid. Lets face it, if it weren't for those staying up specifically to raid there almost certainly wouldn't be enough night time only players like the ones Gandelf mentioned to take relics anyway.

This is why the thread is so important for me. I spent ages posting to them about this and when I got hit by a very strong skepticism especially after researching my posts to them and taking time to build a significant claim. All I got was that they could not establish if this was a) systematic and repeated behaviour and b) if it was intended to grief other players.

I truly was unsure when I asked him as well. In fact I suppose if I am being honest I was also skeptical of the claim that it was repeated. However now those Albs have handed me the argument on a plate. Clearly some of them have intended to grief others and secondly they have admitted to doing it systematically in that thread. So a) and b) do hold to some extent.

I don't know how to explain just how shocked I am by how easy that was. Requiel has by posting enabled us to get this clear I totally respect him for starting the discussion. Although I feel he was avoiding the crux of the matter. His response is going to be very interesting.

We will see just how seriously. This points to weak game mechanics allowing people on low population servers to attack other players. The implications are quite significant. I am sure he knows that. It is going to be very interesting how he responds. I am not even sure what can be done about this - I still felt the voluntary charter was the best way forward rather than handing out bans and stuff.

If the game allows individuals to do it then only the community can really solve the problem.

the interesting thing I found in the thread where someone mentioned that instead of governing the server, GOA interfered and became part of the server for a brief period of time, thus the bans etc. I agree, there was better ways of dealing with it, but the solutions so far are somewhat less than mine and thus will end up being rather inferior. I suggest that someone posts my suggestion else I will do it tomorrow and see what his response is - after all they seem to listen to my solutions iirc

locking relics is however removing choice from those that do play all night and from their perspective it would be against the "spirit of the game" (SoTG). What GOA did not understand when they discussed this with me, I for one was not certain either, was how systematic it was and what the intentions of those behind the raids where. We are dealing with a very specific thing now and hopefully Requiel can find a constructive way out of the situation.

I am frankly amazed that we know this now - it restores my faith a little bit in public discussions.

I seriously hope that something comes out of this, the ppl that still play deserve it. But I cant think of what could change that would be good for both sides, I feel sorry for Requiel and co cos this is a close to impossible thing to solve.
