I guess the firewall is to stop trojans "phoning home" then or something ?

It's likely to stop attacks that focus on common services such as web servers, SQL servers, Windows shares and so on. If you asked for port 80 open for a web server they might refuse it for example. Likewise it could still potentially filter out say, bittorrent traffic regardless of what ports are being used for it also.

I got some friends who go to uni in wales, tip i have been told:
If you take the sheep to a cliff edge and get them to look out then they push back....
dunno what that means tho...
