omg...that sucks bigtime :( EA are no good. They used to rock before they became as big as they are nowadays. Not only are they ignoring their game community, but they are apparently really bad towards their employes too. :(

Ah well... shit happens I guess :(

Edit: Good example how they ignore their customers: Battlefield 2... good example how they treat their employes bad: Westwood.

/me remembers FA-18 Interceptor on his old Amiga, man i loved that game. EA used to rock but some of the horror stories out about their harsh development environment make you sick. i'll try and find one to link

Aye, F-18 Interceptor rocked...so did most of their old games... c64/Amiga.. Their new games are good too - but they are worthless when it comes to listening to the people who actually play their game. They keep on ignoring their requests and just implant worthless things and sell expensive expansions that arent really worth the cash.
I've read alot about them :(

Edit: Yeah, I've read that blog before.

It's a shame Microsoft haven't pushed into game dev more, whatever people think about them they know how to treat their staff well. When I was speaking to some devs from Rare software (the company behind Donkey Kong and such) at a conference the other week they were saying their working practices have improved since moving to Microsoft - they actually had to work longer hours as an independant company. MS offers them upto a 20% of their pay as a performance related bonus, private health care and allows their staff to retain most rights on any IP they develop, so for example if you were the inventor of the next Mario, Lara Croft or Sonic the Hedgehog under them then you'd be laughing your way to the bank, most importantly their hours are fixed, 9 to 5 with the option for paid overtime at crunch time. Companies like EA could learn a lot from MS in this respect, the fact is it makes staff far more productive and creative than burning them out straight out of university does.

As many say, EA used to be good, but now they're just like a corporate plague, infecting and destroying everything good that enters the game dev. industry.

So far I was eyeing towards Warhammer. With these news WAR is dead to me.
