With buffbots, it's just one person running several accounts on the same server simultaneously. That one person is taking up, say 3 spaces on the server and therefore possibly denying 2 other people with single accounts from logging on... which is inconsiderate.

Using a similar analogy to the pub scenario. If you got on a bus and there were two seats remaining, but someone had put their shopping bags on them, you would be annoyed. You've bought a ticket, but you can't sit down because of that inconsiderate person.

That's how it is with buffbots on overpopulated servers.

I'm not saying buffbots are totally wrong, if you're on an underpopulated server, like Prydwen is atm, then buffbots won't be denying anyone a space.

Also, if a server is reaching its capacity, then one might ask why it should be necessary for anyone to have their BBs logged. Surely there should be enough people without BBs logged on for you to find a group with players who will gladly buff you?
If let's say, me and my brother go to the pub, and i let him pay for me all night, then i consider him my buffbot, since he pays for everything. He buffs me with booze! ;)

Comparing buffbot accounts to shopping bags in a bus, isn't really a good example tho. The buffbot accounts get paid for, and afaik i've never seen a shopping bag pay for his seat yet. Altho, u never know ;).

Yes there are people with bb's on classic server, and tbh i was kinda surprised seeing them when i went on classic. And yes there are enough people to make groups with. BUT some people just want some times for themselves sometimes, and play a bit on their own, doesn't mean they can't have the need for buffs then tho.

?
buffbots in this case could be some quiet friend that dosent drink. They arent using the facilites but are still making the pub more packed.

I support Gandelf, I am against buffbots!
they should make NPCs that give these buffs, so the people who want to play on their character, can play and the people with buffbotacc don't have to pay for it no more.

There is also one big argument for buffbots even on Classic servers in PvE:
Try finding a support class that is actively played.

Mythic in their infinite wisdom made it so that the group potential is more than double if the right classes are together. But on the same thing they made it that the exact classes that unlock the potential of a group are on their own inferior and often extremely dull to play.
So people play the wtfpwn classes (which in RvR shine too - aka getting kill spam and name recognition) which leaves the support underplayed.

This is one of the reasons why buffbots are here to stay. Mythic would have to change a lot in their design to make these classes played more interestingly.

Another use for second accounts are crafting requirements. It is just a simple fact that a good crafter for end of line armor requires an armorcrafter AND a tailor. Crafting as dull as it is (unless I watch a good movie, listen to music or have an interesting book) is making this not easier as well and requires lots of time.

Requesting that others cut down on their enjoyment (playing with a 2nd account) is just selfish, greedy and doesn't help at all the argumentation.

So am I mean and selfish for paying for multiple accounts, or kind and generous because I have never logged even one of them on to Glastonbury server?

I thought the idea of classic was to get away from buffbots, but people will still want to log in multiple accounts. As Kesxex says, if you are seriously armorcrafting scale then you need a tailor, and I originally got a second account so I could craft with an armorcrafter and a tailor at the same time.

In fact I've never logged on to any server that was anywhere near full, and I expect Glastonbury being full is a very temporary problem. Quite possibly it may be solved by the threats in the news about people staying logged in when not playing. If even a small percentage of people stay logged in while they go out shopping for a few hours, then it will make the server full when it doesn't need to be. You've been comparing the server to a pub, but maybe several hundred of the people logged in aren't actually playing but really are at the pub.

Seems fairly easy to me.

X people pay Y money for Z server capacity, Q game development and W customer support.

Buffbot pays exactly same Y money, yet it demands less Z server capacity (standing still = less network and hardware resources) and less W customer support (standing still = no problems with bugs, abuse, stuff).

Following your logic Gandelf, all AFK people should be removed aswell, and so on...

If there are 5000 people trying to connect to a single 3600 cap server, will you demand a removal of AFK players, or opening of a new server?
If there are 3000 people and 2000 buffbots trying to connect to a single 3600 cap server, will you demand a removal of buffbots, or opening of a new server?
Service provider gets same money in both cases, not sure why your demands are different :P

PS: Personaly I'm against buffbots, but than be happy, GOA told us we cannot get better support/similar stuff because they don't get big enough piece of cake once they pay out Mythic - imagine how bad it could be without extra 30% (my rough guess) of money they are getting with zero need to provide any extra support/stuff to those accounts.

We are useing drunk people an shopping bags as an example of a buffbot....... am i the only person who see's a problem with that... lol

At the end of the day, buffbots werent ment to be made, the class's are there to be used... i believe kesxex said that support classes are boring to play... i have to say that while afew ppl might find it boring.. another few.. like myself actually like to play support.. cus im the type of person who takes care of the group (ye ye.. i know... "with my shit heals" lol) but quite honestly.. if i was to make another druid or bard... id be having full regrowth so i can take better care of my group (yes.. ive finally desided to respec FM kes... he's become a full regrowth kid lol) but as to the matter at hand.. buffbots werent ment to be made, the classes are there to be played.

On the other hand i resay what i said before.. if there were no buffbots, there woodnt be a need for em cus everybody wood have a group an nobody wood be a lonly git like myself........

But.. now that i think about it.. anytime im in corus (down in the pit) anybody an everybody is welcome to join me weather i have my friends hero (themadscotsman) with me or not... i normaly just use him as protection lol, so come one an come all cus its my thing, i like to help :D

(I have seemingly made this post out about myself in corus somehow... i dont know how.. but i did for some unknown and VERY strange reason)

Not really, on the servers its like if the guy on the bus had paid 2 tickets. One for himself and one for his shopping bags.
