A melee class... they don't usually need to target at range, but can get close up and use the "select nearest enemy" key to get an instant target without any problems. This fact therefore gives the melee class a distinct advantage.

Not really, tanks try to select targets usually, you don't just select randomly using nearest enemy, using nearest Enemy is what I do when killing mobs exping ;D

Used to be a bit easier on nukers before they changed the clicking. Now it can be really tricky clicking a moving target some distance away. Dunno that tanks have it any easier though - never play them.

technically all classes are at a disadvantage in one point or another...

can see Gandelf's view but also solo tanks are VERY disadvantaged in the iRvR at the moment...

if a solo tank wants rps they have to wait for the zerg to actually initiate close combat otherwise if they run in then the alb/mid tanks/healers will slam/stun and the casters will rip them to shit and back

casters have advantages in iRvR over tanks as they can stand back and hit the targets without getting close therefore getting some RPs when the enemy dies however as Gandelf was saying the targetting is a little fucked at the moment.

however i dont agree with the tanks always using 'target nearest enemy' as myself (not sure about others) only go for healing classes + mezzing targets so have to target whilst in the middle of the zerg

imo - using the mouse pointer to target shows if you are a good player to target the classes that need to be shot to shit as soon as possible... MAs should always be people that are fast and good at targetting the most appropriate classes... in some rvr groups ive been in the MA has always gone for 'target nearest enemy' and ive basically said f**k you im going for the healing class/caster instead of tank else we be screwed.

at the end of the day... all classes have their advantages and disadvantages but you have to live with them and work around them :)

The only problem with targetting is that they changed the way the mouse targetting works - instead clicking ON the target you target now when you let the mouse button go.

This has nothing to do with casters being bad in game or disadvantaged. This merely cries out as "I don't have a clue" and "I play a caster and need MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE", Gandelf.
It is a fully biased post including whines with a barely hidden insult to all tanks. And you are asking why people don't treat you with respect, Gandelf?????????
Sorry to say, but respect needs to be earned, it isn't given to someone with the most posts.

re: the new voting system. Mebbe I misunderstand, but it seems to point of it is to agree with people as much as possible. You are then rewarded with points which allow you to agree with them even more.

So basically your saying that since _you_ are lousy at targeting with a mouse it should be made easier.

Right

And fyi the targetting got harder (select on release not on click) last EU patch. Will be easier again next patch

Actually not quiet. Every user has 'mana' which he/she can use to vote which slowly replenishes. This can be either positive or negative. The rating a person has currently is nothing more then a number. What is being discussed is when people have a (high) positive rating they can get special features. Like a custom title etc.

Then after you vote for a post and a next person votes the following can happen. He agrees with you and your mana grows. He disagrees with you and your mana gets less.

Think that is it in a nutshell
