thought we were having a rip roaring argument, found it an odd approach to administration of the channel.

Was frankly surprised at the without prior warning kick for an expression of opinion that was equally and oppositely defended with the same vigour by an admin of that channel. A polite irc send would of done as an initial shot over the bows, though overall it did seem to me, even after reflection, that the kick privalege was abused out of context.

oh well.

I thank stupeh for posting up the log, im sure any further correspondance can be kept between the two of us.

Hmm, this is the thing about IRC that bugs me, people whine about xrealmers, bug abusers, radar users and yet find IRC perfectly acceptable. On that chat log u have a classic example of a mid gank group leader asking a hib wtf hibs were doing in a certain area, is this not cross realming?. One mans meat is another mans poison, but imho IRC is a 3rd party tool used to take advantage of situations....... discuss, flame, whatever

but, i'm only guessing here, isnt radar a tool used to locate groups? and IRC is for what? or ur gonna tell me there is an etiquette, anyways as said 1 mans meat is anothers poison and to me it is an abuse but people seem to accept it ....

people can just refrain from answering the questions asked on irc. Sure, there's some people that simply can't shut up. But if they relay info that wasn't supposed to be known by other realms, it usually the last time they're able to do that on the channel.

Of course, stupeh mentions that there's no rules on #prydwen.rvr, except for the ones that the current operators make up.

I always enter a channel on quakenet knowing full and well that this ispotentially a place of sadistic, egocentric and powermongering persons that treat their channel as a their own playtoy. Even if it's a channel with 500+ people gathered from a game or some other common interest. I rarely argue with operators, unless I know them or it's a channel that I don't desire to stay in for long, since they can end any discussion with two commands if they get into deep water.

IRC is a great tool for contact, there'll allways be the idiots that can't shutup about raids and so, but it happens through msn, icq and the other networks anyways. I'm somewhat sure that the community has benefitted(is that a word?) from the european daoc channels on quakenet, and it also helps passing time when crafting and so :p

Stupeh - you were (mostly:p) always nice back when I was playing, so it hurts me a bit to see you act like this. But of course, it's you with the @, so you decide how the channel's run.
