Removing /level command in itself won't help new players because established players will just twink their alts through the lower levels, or PL them. Twinked lowbies wreak havoc in the lower BGs and make new players feel inadequate and more likely to give up before they even get started (it's hard enough learning a new game without some fully twinked infiltrator or scout one-shotting you every few minutes).

However, the fact that established players are in the lowbie areas and BGs, could mean any new players they come across might get included or at least helped with some buffs and spare items etc. So removing /level could have some benefit.

Ultimately though, the way to get new players into the game and bring former players back into the fold is to offer a more enjoyable and better balanced game that doesn't favour the hardcore players as much as it currently does. If the game was more accomodating for those who don't wish to play in hardcore mode getting to RR12 and fully ToA twinked with a walking wardrobe of artifacts and ML abilities, then it might be more attractive to new players and casual players alike.

doesnt matter if they take away /level, ppl will just PL from 1-50 then, so the new ppl will stand there without group or anything anyways.

I always thought they should have less servers for 1-20 that for 20-50. Assuming you level normally you spend 90% + of your time as a level 50. Of the time you are leveling 50-60%+ is for 40-50. This is why the low levels are empty.

What they should do is pick one server where people are allowed to create chars then before level 30 or so, you can transfer your char to your final server. Maybe something like level 2x's get unlimited transfers, but when you ding 30 you are stuck on your current server. This allows all the lowbies converge on 1 server increasing the chances of groups, but at high level spreading them between multiple servers. It is probably not that great for Goa, but would be pretty good for Mythic.

Yep it's true, like with Catacombs and the Catacombs classes, the fact I couldn't /level them didn't make me group with lowbies, it just meant I went in instances and such by myself. It's not the fact that lowbies are the wrong level to group with that causes me a problem, it's the fact that new players generally don't know what they're doing and can cause unneeded deaths or really slow xp down that's the problem.

The best solution is better tutorials and a speeding up of xp gain or lowering the amount of xp needed to level from 1 to 30, this way new players can get to a decent and more fun level earlier and hopefully learn more about the game in the process. The new newbie quests go someway towards that, they're pretty good in that they explain things like weapskill, AF etc.

Don´t think that is true really, you don´t need much time to learn how to play a char if you have lots before ;D sure if your first char is PLed, but hah ;D don´t think I need exping time from 20-50 to learn how to play a char -_-
