I don't care what language anyone uses when talkeing to friends etc online, but if in a BG, CG for whatever raid, then you should respect others and use a language all can understand, otherwise you should just be quiet, thats my opinion.

What Goa should really work on is a "babbel fish" like system. It would convert (yes imperfectly) what people are saying into whatever language each client is set to receive.

As an alternative, FFXI had a system where there was a set of phrases like "want to group?" and "yes", "no" and so on. You could select a phrase and everyone in the group would get it in their language.

Their main problem was that the dictionary was pretty small. What they needed was a way for the player base to add more phrases but I digress .

Personally i dont understand why when we go over to another server all the commands are in german/french, you can't even press 'r' to reply to a message.

Why is it not an option to just choose your language as you play on each server, this way all the commands would be client side right? and more people would then be able to play another realm they wanted without everyone speaking a different language.

On Camlann the other day i was invited to a group, asked if i was french i said 'non', 'anglais' and was instantly booted from the group..

It's logical to me that if most European countries have adopted one currency and one system of measurement, that they should adopt one language. English is the obvious choice. It's already the main language of business and the Internet on a global scale.

So I think Europe should abolish the teaching of any language other than English. They ought to allow 10 years for every European to learn English as a native tongue, then make it illegal to speak any other language, like Spanish, French, German, Italian, Greek etc. etc.

Then we won't have to worry about language barriers at all on servers.

Apart from the fact that the English haven't & keep avoiding doing so. therefore it makes far more sense for it to be French, German or Spanish. If the English refuse to play ball with them then why should they bother?

Well I can't agree with Gandelf, because makeing it illigal is just silly, but all should learn it though as it has become the universal language for communication.

You really need to know English nowadays, more or less whatever you do tbh.
