Renderer Creation failed since today

I haven't spotted a post about this on this forum yet, so thought I'd do one.

If you get the error 'Renderer Creation Failed' when trying to log into DAoC
(as I did), then you may need to upgrade to DirectX 9.0c.

As Requiel posted on FH:-
New game binaries were installed today which do not support DirectX 9.0b.

I expect this belongs in technical really, but someone frustrated may find it easier to spot here.

Remains the question why people would still have 9.0b

Every morning I check the internet first thing to see if there is a new and shiny Direct x to upgrade to on all three computers....

No, seriously, I don't upgrade the minute things come out, I let someone else find out what the problems are. I expect a lot of people don't bother to upgrade until needed as well.

9.0c has been out for what, a year now? dunno exactly tbh, but LONG. Besides, every new game you install, AND windows update installs 9.0C

So you really have to try very hard NOT to have 9.0c...

Well it's not like DirectX subrevisions are heavily advertised, it's only if you do play lots of state of the art games that you're going to be asked to install it tbh.

I posted this for information, because people have had the problem. Its posted on Freddy's House, because people have had the problem.

There have been a lot of problems lately, and possibly I'm not the only one reaching the point where they feel one more may be the last they struggle with. So I was aiming to ease the frustration for the odd one or two people hitting this.

I don't install a lot of new stuff on the old pcs, and for whatever reason they do not update Direct X when they do windows updates. Its not really an interesting point to discuss so I suggest we just leave it that not everyone always has the latest Direct X on all pcs.

I hade this problem as well, did update directx and my ATI-drivers. Still didn't help I needed to install SP2 as well(was using SP1).

My gfx card is a ATI Radeon 9800pro.

in the readme for catalysts drivers (the newest ones) there is a reported problem with daoc which is why i havnt upgraded to them yet.
