People just need to calm down a little and stop this slating..
whine on FH CF thats where people whine dont drag this forum in the gutter also.. (its gettin low enough as it is without ur help)

Mods should be sorting this out not adding to it. Impartial is a mods rule.

Goa gm`s are doing as much as they can and as fast as they can and i know that for a fact as ive been in daily contact with all of them..

There isnt just Hib to fix you know theres Mid and Alb. and no realm is being favoured.. its first come first served basis on the Rn reports.
If you logged on to Camlann or Excal. they ull get sidelined as they havnt got the time to be hunting you down.. the time is better spent rectifying other accounts if ur logged on at the time its ur turn on Prydwen ull be asked to log off for a few minutes.. what people are forgetting is that every claim has to be checked against quest logs and artifact encounter logs to backup what has been lossed or what people Say has been lost..these things take time..
I know how it feels I had a main char. cleared out and got F.A back as i couldnt remember what i had and i personally dont hold thew items as a major loss as it is a game and not that important to make myself stressed over it.. everything can be replaced its material.

:stupid:

hehe sorry Norc, you know I'm just kidding ;)

But yeah guys, the reports are dealt with in the order they arrive in. If you don't provide the right details, or enough, you only delay your own report. As has been mentioned previously as well don't be updating your ticket as it only bumps it to the bottom of the queue, resulting in longer delays.

"Act of God" is a generic saying meaning an extraordinary natural event such as an earthquake or, as is covered in the news alot at the minute, hurricane or flooding. Server problems are not usually covered under this heading ;) It is not indicative of the religion of the person who wrote the CoC and is a commonly used legal term used by people of multiple religions, whether they are Monotheism or Ploytheistic.

However, as many people have rightly said, you do not own the character, you do not own the items. They are GOA's property. What your £8 (or whatever currency/amount you pay) covers is the ability to log onto the servers and access the service for that subscription period. In all rights GOA can delete your characters, change them into furry bunnies with bright purple armour, or bump you back down to level 1. You mightn't like it, but, since you clicked the accept button on the CoC, you can do nothing about it except cancel your subscription so that you are not paying to access GOA's servers any more.

GOA are doing alot more than most companies would do in a similar situation. If the data isn't your property they don't have any reason to restore it at your request. However you are seeing proper customer service in action as they are using alot of resources to help get people back on their feet. It takes time, there's alot of data to go through. Yes it could have been anticipated and planned for better but you can't plan for every single thing unfortunately.

GoA mail wrote: Recently you requested personal assistance from our on-line support center. Below is a summary of your request and our response.

We will assume your issue has been resolved if we do not hear from you within 48 hours.

Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you.
Seems to me like any RNs not resolved within 48 will have been closed anyway :o

<Hopes everyone goes to up date their RN so his goes up the list> :)

The current database errors would fall under the last bit.
No it wouldn't,

Act of God:

things like Floods/Storms/Lightning/hurricanes etc .... GoA's servers went down due to none of these, or at least they aint said they were hit by floods/lightning etc :)

Not true. If the status of your RightNow is 'Under Investigation' or 'Updated' then it stays open until we manually change the status. Only 'Waiting' RightNows get closed automatically if there's no response after 48 hours.

I know that, just trying to get people to update their RNs so I sneak up the queue ;)

Seriously though, that wording could use a little work :D

Celedth wrote:Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I think this needs to be clear:

It's not your property. You don't own anything on the servers. GOA (or Mythic if you play on the US servers) own your characters and their items, not you. What you pay GOA for is access to the service (playing the game) not for them to store your virtual property.

If anything you can sue them for not delivering the service you can resonable expect from the "deal" you have made. I'd be very suprised though if the deal (the CoC) does not have a "void in case of techical problems outside GOAs control" and/or a clause that allowes them to change the service without your consent. Techically and realistically the only option you have is the choice whenever you wish to continue to pay for the service or not.

And in the CoC the following piece can be found:

GOA can however not be held responsible for difficulties in accessing DAOC that may be due to your Internet access conditions and, more generally, for any malfunction of interruption to your Player Account connected to or resulting from an act of God.

The current database errors would fall under the last bit.
The thing is its not out of thier control, they have said they have put measures in place to stop it happening again, this suggests to me that these measures were not in place at the time and all of this was avoidable.

I'm sure time will tell.
