I was about to resubscribe, my life has calmed down a little and things are starting to refocus. My last remaining family has emigrated to new zealand and now I am stuck with few choices. I popped onto pyrd.net to look back over the good days and it must be said that I miss the original days of daoc. Pre SI, back when the sylvan blades were at their best and life was easy.

I wanted it to be known that I missed you all through everything even gandelf

but having looked at all the patch notes and changes I don't think I could pull my characters out of retirement. It would appear that changes irl mean changes ic...

Unfortunately I don't think any of the "newer" mmo's will have what daoc had at launch. I will of course try warhammer online however having played it last September at games day it was more like wow than the glory days of daoc.

Look out for Xcerus on the warhammer servers and whatever happens I wish you all the best in life.

ps: Tell Taryx sorry for not letting her know from me - assuming Requiel still looks at this forum - I hope to see you all again this coming September on the warhammer online stand

pps: shows how behind I am looks like Taryx may not be attending games day 2007 but requiel should be there... blimey so much change :S

When I first started playing DAoC with my Eldritch (Gandelf) at Mag Mell, I thought "Is this all there is? Just a few buildings and a bindstone?" I was a bit dissapointed. But, then as soon as I went over that obscuring hill and saw the entrance to TNN and started to explore the beautiful city I was enthralled and realised how good it was.

I guess we all have memories like that. You never recapture those initial few hours of playing a mmorpg, where you are exploring all there is to see and learning all the controls etc. After a while, it all seems so familiar and you never experience that initial learning curve with alts.

i died going over that hill
im sure there were aggro there before but then they moved it.

And i got lost trying to find the ranger trainer

Always made me help the little rangers/NS who were struggling after

Hiding a trainer behind a wall..honestly

DAoC were best IMO after darkness falls came, and ppl doing RvR to get towers to open it..just to rush to alb/mid side to kill the remaining vermin

Good fun imo. Also relic raids.. Loved the game back then

After atlantis etc I gave up on it
