You may not be convinced, but there are others like me that are. With all due respect, you don't speak for this or any other community alone, that's why there are so many other users on other communities. At least people here will be given the opportunity to follow their weekly developments which are each thursday on http://lotro.turbine.com which goes a long way to showing what they are doing - instead of ignoring it and giving a terse post such as yours. No offence Ovi, but you should think of others first before making comment.
My mistake, I took your question to mean why does it not have it's own forum. My first (perhaps terse) paragraph being the answer to that question (Note: it was a question in itself and not a statement of fact assuming anything about the community!). After re-reading I guess you just meant why no thread, the answer to that being that maybe no one else here is that interested in it yet? (Another question, not assuming anything!)Arcsalin wrote:You may not be convinced, but there are others like me that are. As to the second paragraph, that is simply my opinion of the game. I don't think it will be good, it has been delayed too much, even changing name. In my experience games that are delayed a lot often fail to deliver on their promise.
Also, with WoW having 5 million subs they have an awfully big R&D budget for lotr to compete with, and that is the yardstick it will be measured against.
I am a big LOTR fan, and I really hope that the game is good, and lives up to it's promise.

5.000.000 subscribers doesnt mean LoTR or any other mmorpg will fail imo. The game has been mentioned here several times before, before the forum was restarted. Imo it would be stupid to make 1 subgroup for every mmorpg - just make one as soon as enough people talk about it in the forum...until then the main directory of "other games" should imo work fine.
Personally I seriously doubt LoTR MMorpg will be a hit - not cos of low budget or WoW...I just fail to see how they are gonna pull it through. Oh well, let's wait and see.
warhammer online is the game Im waiting for.
Edit: WoW might have loads of fans backing it up...but LoTR have had fans for more than 50 years

Well it's nice to know where you are going ankh, have fun there when it arrives, but i've had quite a stomach full of mythic. At least Turbine were doing things that I liked on Dungeons and Dragons Beta - I might add that I spoke to many people in daoc who asked me what D&D was like and subsequently left daoc to go there because their expectations here had been let down over the years.. I expect to see more of the same on lotro but with the added pvp value as promised. When that comes out that's where I will be going, and I will be saying goodbye for good then. 4 years of one game is more than enough, and from what I have read on their forum it is due sometime this year. The vids look nice and promising, the class system is akin to daoc in some respects. So for me at least it will be home from home.<ankh> wrote:5.000.000 subscribers doesnt mean LoTR or any other mmorpg will fail imo. It's not just about game function but also quality, and over many months i've heard so much whine about WoW from ex daoc players and others. I have been a fan of lord of the rings for 26 years now, there are probably others like me also, and ofc new players. I guess i will see you on lotro beta though ankh

Hehe ofcourse you will see me in the beta - I said I have no high expectations but Im not ditching the game before Ive atleast tried it. Im a big LoTR fan myself (or else I would have the gollum tattoo on my leg!).
Your right, many complains on mythic (and alot on daoc/wow) - but I'm still looking forward to warhammer as I've played the tabletop/p&p rpg since 1986-1987. What makes that game so cool compared to the rest (including LoTR) is the dark and cruel world. LoTR has it's moments but it has a medival feeling over it from time to time...I want a darker world (I guess I could lower the gamma

[quote="Arcsalin"]IIRC you didn't like too much what turbine did with DDO tho, so if form runs true i am guessing you won't like this too much either ]
Well, dungeons and Dragons was good 20 years ago..then it turned into shite. They tried to ressurect it using the D20 system - and it was quite good at first - but I grew bored on their silly creatures and worlds. (Only ever liked the pool of radiance world..not the remake game ofc, and dragonlance..)

It's bound to attract a lot of subscribers, just because it's Lord of the Rings. I will certainly give it a go.
I'm a little dissapointed that there are no Mage/Wizard classes, because those are my favourite type, but as they say, Wizards are very few and far between in Middle Earth. If nothing else, it will stop players moaning about overpowered casters!
Going by the graphics, it's going to make all other mmorpgs look like something you used to play on the Spectrum. Looking at some of the screenshots, the detail is exceptional. I was especially impressed with the shots of the Barrow Downs and the Shire.
Also, I'm glad that a lot of the characters from LotR will be in the game, a bit like R2D2, C3-PO, etc. are in SWG. At least players won't be able to choose names like Frodo, Legolas, Gandalf etc.
All in all, I think it's going to be good. I think the fact that it is "LotR", will mean that a number of existing mmoprpgs will lose players.
