Outpost Pro firewall from Agnitum

What do you IT pros know or think about the Outpost Pro firewall suite from Agnitum?

I have the Macaffee suite on my laptop, which is OK, but seems to use a lot of resources.

I have been using ZoneAlarm Pro at home for years which is OK too, but does seem to interfere with a lot of things in recent versions. Also various parts of recent versions don't seem to work as well as one might hope for many users.

It's not that I've been thinking of changing, but Agnitum is offering Outpost Pro suite for free to registered Tauscan users as they will be discontinuing Tauscan support this year, and I've been a registered Tauscan user for years so...

I honestly don't see the point in software firewalls at all. If you connect to the net via a router and have virus scan/anti-spyware software protecting you from the inside then a software firewall is doing nothing but slowing your computer down.

I connect via a cable-modem & have a hardware firewall (3com iirc)
You'd be surprised how many pings I still get on the software firewalls.
Occasionally Tauscan even complains about a trojan which Avira anti-virus missed.

Anyway... anyone know anything about Outpost Pro firewall from Agnitum?

You shouldn't be getting any pings with a hardware firewall/router unless for some reason you've configured to allow ICMP to forward from your firewall/router to your PC, in which case unconfigure it! :p
