Joystick problem on old PC game

Can any of you remember the old game "Elite"... the space trading game that originally came out on the BBC Micro? I used to love playing it, back in the 80s on my "Beeb".

Well, I found a PC version on the Internet and downloaded it. It works fine, no problems, but I can't get my joystick to work with it. I've tried a joystick connected into a USB socket and I've tried another joystick plugged into the 15-pin D connector on the the sound card. The game doesn't recognise either joystick. I can play the game using keyboard controls, but it's very difficult and joystick would make a huge difference.

Anyone out there who might be able to tell me how to get one working?

Thanks.

Ankh, you are a genius! It worked! Joystick is working fine!
Thanks very much.

If you want to try playing PC Elite Plus yourself, here is the link:-
