Hibernian House Teleporters

Does anyone know if there's a trick to choosing the race of one's house porter? I've noticed in a few houses, they are Elves, whereas mostly they are Sylvan.

And no u can't choose afaik, same as they got different dresses from time to time.

But, what I can't understand is that everytime I have bought a porter it's a Sylvan. Surely the odds must be even?

Maybe the elves are for porters from back when there was a different set of locations on each porter ?
