Anyone know a free app that I can use to convert jpegs to thumbnails? Needs to do batch converts as well.

It's a great image viewer and resizer in its own right and can do batch file conversions and batch file resizing (go to File : Batch Conversions : Advanced for the resizing options).

if you are using it on XP then there is a nice image resizer which allows you to do batches of images at a time... its in the XP Power Toys section of MS website
