Is this a decent graphic card?

The problem I have now is ... finding out for sure if it's the graphic card which isn't working. I don't know anyone hereabouts with a PCIe graphic card to test it on, so can't test mine on their system or vice versa.

If I send back the graphic card & they send me a new one & it still doesn't work it'll be too late to send the motherboard or RAM or whatever it is which isn't working back instead...

I guess it's not a motherboard with an onboard gfx card at all either?

Problem is there's no AGP slots anymore either!

Well the shop have said they'll swap out the graphic card so I'll just have to hope it's that.
If it turns out afterwards to be something else instead then I'm just sod out of luck

Guess that's when I buy a new MB & hope that works & it's not the power supply or RAM or CPU

My replacement graphic card arrived today & the system booted nicely the first time so looks like that's ok.

I rebooted to change the boot-drive order in the BIOS but never even made it that far cos now the whole thing seems stuck in a loop where it doesn't even make it past the POST so just bah

Finally got this system up & running & am very happy with it now.

I had to order a new Asus motherboard to replace the MSI motherboard. Theoretically the MSI motherboard would have been faster, but the most important difference between the Asus & the MSI is that the Asus MB worked perfectly from 1st boot attempt & the MSI one never got past the POST

I could have bought a reasonably comparable complete system now 3 months later for £400 (including Vista) i/o the nearly £700 for parts (without Vista) I spent over the last 3 months, but at least it's running & fast & beautiful

One thing I would have changed had I known then what I know now is that I wouldn't have bought an NZXT tower. It's very pretty, but £60 for what turned out to be a cheaply-made french case with the paint already peeling off the plastic panels in places & on which I had to rewire the front panel cos it hadn't been done properly during manufacturing is a bit steep IMO. I expected more quality for a £60 case.

Upgraded RAM to 2GB as only having 1GB on this system felt like cutting off my nose to spite my face, & RAM is so cheap nowadays anyway...
