I think I will go for like 4gig ram if thats poss these days 4x1024?? at least 2gig anyhow, monitor, drives etc i have already. I wud litteraly need case, mobo, cp, cooler, ram and gfx. Also im not really on a budget.
I remember benchmarking a rig with 2x512 and 1x512 a number of years ago (3dmark 2001). Performance was actually better with the 512mb. So if you dont need it yet, dont buy it - infact that is a general truism when purchasing pc's because of the trend for costs to reduce (ram cost fluctuations dont make things quite so clear cut).

thats with the old style single channel boards , trust me , i've got my machine singing now it's got all channels working.
